Porsche is an automobile manufacturer known for its luxury high performance cars. Its current product line includes the Cayennne sports utility vehicles, Cayman sports cars, Boxter and the 911 (997), as well as its latest market entry, the four-door Panamera saloon (sedan). The Luxury Institute, New York, named Porsche as the world’s most prestigious automobile brand in 2006 based on a survey of 500 well-to-do households. The company was also honored with the 2006 J.D. Power and Associates award for the highest-ranked automobile brand.
Despite the many ups and downs of the automobile industry worldwide, Porsche has maintained its financial stability and reputedly earns the highest profit for every unit sold among all car makers in the world. Because of its reputation, other automakers have sought Porsche’s consultancy services. Among the auto companies which have consulted Porsche on engineering for their cars or engines are Daewoo, Audi, SEAT, Studebaker, Yugo and Subaro.
