This year, Audi is representing an impressive concept in the form of 2013 Audi TT ultra Quattro Concept. This is a concept car that combines style with an impressive power-to-weight ratio, high-tech construction and very lightweight.

It is powered by a 2.0 liter TFSL engine which produces 295 pound feet of torque and 310 horsepower. The power allows it to hit 62 mph in 4.2 seconds, to go with the top speed of 174 mph.

All these are aided by a lithium-ion starter battery and a power-to-weight ratio of 3.6 kilograms per horsepower which is in line with many performance oriented sports cars. The lithium-ion starter battery is much lighter and smaller than the standard lead battery.

Interior

The interior is designed in a way to reduce excess weight. Carbon fiber has been used in the cabin, the center console, the door trim and the cross-bracing which replaces the rear seat-bench.

Bucket seats are used and installed borrowing from the current Audi-TT. These include; air conditioning, electromechanical parking brake and electric window controls.

Handling

Audi TT ultra Quattro Concept makes use of a simpler and a lighter suspension system-unit. This shaves off some weight from the current set-up improving comfort and handling. The coil springs which were traditionally made from steel have been replaced now with fiberglass reinforced plastic. This shaves of 40% of their bulk and still maintaining the overall usefulness.

Lightweight

The engine modifications to the crankshaft, the crankcase, the balancer shafts, the oil sump and bolts have been made lighter by 25 kilograms (55 pounds).

The spokes are made of high-strength aluminum bolted to the wheel directly. This reduces weight by 20 kilograms (44 lbs).

This simply shows Audi’s goal that the car was designed to reduce its weight, enhancing performance. The Audi TT ultra Quattro Concept is comfortable and simple.

Engine

The engine of the Audi S3 is incredibly powerful. It comes with a 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder turbocharged engine and can go from 0 to 62+ miles an hour in just under five seconds. This is thanks in large part to the engines ability to immediately inject fuel when the gas pedal is pressed.

Most automobile enthusiasts were expecting some minor revisions to the already popular Panamera model. However Porsche in its infinite wisdom decided to call the 2014 Porsche Panamera a second generation edition. This new group of contemporary Panamera’s will include an S E-Hybrid and a pair of “executive” luxury sedans.

Styling changes appear to have been inspired by the Porsche 911, always a good car to follow when it comes to success.

With the exception of the “executive” models, the rest of the new and improved Porsche Panamera will be available in July of this year. The MSRP begins at $78,100. The top of the line Turbo executive will run you around $161,000 and go on the market during the 2014 calendar year.

Engine & Performance

Unlike the interior, the Porsche Panamera has received a make-over under the hood. The basic models will stay with the 3.6 liter V6 engine but the power output has been improved to 310 HP. This engine should move you from 0-60 MPH in about 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 160MPH.

There are even greater improvements in the Panamera S and 4S versions. The previous 4.8L, V8 has been replaced with a 3.0L, twin turbo V6. While the displacement is smaller the performance is solid. This engine will propel the vehicle from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds with a top speedometer reading of 179 MPH.

All 2014 Panamera engines will be mated with the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission.

Exterior

The first thing you may notice as the 2014 Panamera approaches is larger air intakes, this help to improve engine cooling. The redesigned front headlights join the more pronounced and firm hood lines. The standard headlamps will be bi-xenon, but LED’s will be offered as an option if that is your preference.

The side view affords a larger yet more streamlined rear window. This sweeps to the rear where a broader spoiler has been added. The rear taillights, like its front counterpart, also has a new design accentuating a fresh sportier rear profile.

Interior

Not much has changed in the interior of 2014 Panamera. The same elegant comforts you are used to, is still available. The multi function steering wheel is standard and you can choose your seat fabrics, from Alcantara, to leather, and even carbon fiber.

After making its world debut at the Detroit auto show in January, the executives at Bavarian Motor Works have not officially declared this 2014 BMW Z4 Roadster as the next generation Z4, it is definitely a fresh version from its predecessor.

The Z4 Roadster has been travelling highways everywhere since 2009. It is hard to believe the first BMW roadster (Z1) was unveiled back in 1988. This year’s Z4 maintains the tradition of the classic roadster while offering minor exterior and interior changes and an all new Hyper Orange design package.

The BMW Z4 Roadster is available with one of three engine options. The SDrive 28i power plant is a 2.0L four cylinder, it is small, but quick, this engine creates 240 horsepower and can go from 0-60 MPH in 5.5 seconds.

The SDrive 35i packs 300 horses under the hood helped by a 3.0L, V6. This one cuts a half second off the 0-60 MPH listed above. Last, but not least, is another inline V6 generating 335 HP and travelling from 0-60 in under 4.8 seconds as part of the SDrive 35is series.

You can pair the SDrive 28i with either a 6-speed manual trans or an 8-speed automatic. The larger engines come with a 7-speed double clutch transmission.

Exterior

The 2014 Z4 Roadster maintains the same low profile, long wheelbase and sweeping hood. The front features 4 unique headlights on either side of the kidney shaped, vertical slatted grille. The headlamps are Xenon with LED offered as an option. Even the front turn signal lamps have been upgraded with chrome casings.

There are 2 roof options this year. The standard retractable hard top and a new contrast color version. The 2 color choices are Jet Black or Titanium metallic Silver. Both retract in less than 19 seconds at the rate of 25 mph.

There are 14 body colors to choose from, including metallic Valencia Orange if you opt for the Hyper Orange package mentioned above.

Interior

Once seated inside the Roadster you may notice the new high gloss black framing around the A/C ducts and iDrive control system. If you prefer, beautiful Fineline anthracite wood is offered as an option to trim your vehicle.

There is of course the automatic climate control and the Z4 audio system which includes 11 speakers.

The Shanghai Motor Show set the stage for the unveiling of the new MG 3.

MG has undergone a major revamping and the 2014 MG 3 is part of the company’s brand new line up of super mini vehicles.

The tiny hatchback has received upgrades in its design and fun factor that MG is hoping will put them back on the map.

Design

The engineers at MG received a lot of inspiration from the MG Zero Concept car that was built three years ago. Keeping the British charm that appealed to youth in the past, the MG 3 has smoother lines and bumpers that add style instead of detracting from it.

LED lights come standard with a large black mesh grille. You are able to customize the exterior, adding you own style and design elements. Coming in multiple trims, the MG 3’s side skirts are multi-colored and the wheels are adorned with a touch of color.

The sporty hatchback has been lowered and the precision cut lines of the vehicle are hard to miss. Just over 13 feet long, its extra sporty rear valence and chrome tailpipe give it a well-polished look.

Fun Factor

Hatchbacks are not typically known as fun cars. MG plans to change that by designing a vehicle that has plenty of interior space and great control on different types of roads.

The vehicles chassis provide the driver with a comfortable ride and smooth handling. Engineers have done thousands of miles of road testing in order to deliver a compact car that can handle sharp corners with ease.

The new 2014 MG 3 is still in its preview stages, but MG has confirmed that at least one version of the vehicle will have a 4 cylinder petrol engine. Details on the interior and other specs are still unknown to the public.

The MG 3 is slated to go on sale in Europe by the end of 2013. When it will be available stateside is still a question yet to be answered.
