Under the hood is a 4.7L, V8 generating 310 horsepower engine. It is mated with a 6 speed automatic transmission. As a mid level option, the Ram 1500 is available in a 3.6L, Pentastar V6 at 305 horsepower which continues the fuel efficiency theme by rating at 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway with 2 wheel drive and an 8 speed auto trans.

Exterior

The 2014 Ram 1500 has experienced a restyling rather than just a tweak to the model or trim lines. It begins with a completely new front grille standing an inch taller than previous models. Another more subtle change is the crosshair bars are now flush from its top to the bottom.

The new grille is now functional. It actually closes when cooling is not required allowing the air to flow more freely over the Rams body and provide savings in fuel cost. The seats have been upgraded using premium materials, armrests have also been added. The center console has been changed to accommodate an 8.4″ “Uconnect” info screen. The sharp Ram emblems are not in short supply inside the vehicle. A 5.7 liter HEMI® V8 engine helps power this workhorse of a truck. Producing 383 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, the 2500 is capable of towing 18,300 lbs.

The rear suspension has been completely replaced, and uses a segment system to create a smoother ride. This has been achieved by replacing the coil spring with an air suspension unit. The engineers have managed to do this without any degradation in performance. 

The new suspension system also leverages the use of air pressure to include load-leveling capability. The truck will detect extra load on the rear axle and automatically adjust the air pressure in the suspension system to level the truck, improving stability and drive comfort.

Intake System

The 2014 2500 Heavy Duty features an innovative, variable air intake system that is such a good idea it is amazing that nobody thought of introducing it before.

When the outside temperature heats up, the intake system sucks in cooler air from the front of the truck. It will also do this at high altitudes to improve throttle response.

Exterior

The Ram has a rugged appearance, because of the dominant large front grille and bumper, and its height above the road. The projector beam headlights have been reduced in size compared to earlier models. The manufacturer has added LED taillights on the 2014 series.

Interior

Interior seating has been completely redesigned, and now features bucket seats with high backs. You can opt for 10-way electrical adjustments for the driver’s seat, and 6-way for the front passenger seat. Additionally, the seats can be supplied with individual ventilation and heating.

The infotainment system dominates the central console, and includes several class leading features. The optional rear-view camera is mounted near the top, giving a great view, and it feeds images to the console.

The Revolucion comes with a 6.0 Liter V12 engine that produces 800 horsepower. It is capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 233 mph. The engine was designed from the one that was featured in the first Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR’s endurance racer.

Drag Reduction System (DRS)

The new ABS system enables the drivers to adapt the car’s behavior to their own driving style. Its Brembo braking system has advanced F1 technology derived from CCMR discs. The CCMR provides increased stiffness, along with reduced temperatures on intense track usage.

This adds to the lifespan of the discs and it has been extended to as much as four times, without any sign of diminishing.

Limitations

Only five Pagani Zonda Revolucion’s will be built; Pagani Automobili says this model was designed to be amazing on the track or to belong in a private car collection.

The price tag is at $2.8 million, and it is not street legal, so do not expect to see one on the road anytime soon.
