2011 Aston Martin DB9

The Aston Martin DB9 has made history after seven years that it was introduced. The 2011 model is constructed to be more stylish and has more enhanced equipments than the Aston Martin DB9 on 2003. The bumper is more sophisticated and compliments the bright shade of the radiator framework. Ahead of its rear wheels is a prominent curve. This supercar was named as the grand tourer since it is the combination of luxury, elegance, and a sporting character.

Changes

The 2011 Aston Martin DB9 is constructed to have a new bumper that has a lower intake and shaped like a hexagonal mesh. The curve that looks like a hockey stick can be found on its rear wheels and it adds a prominent look in its overall appearance. Its headlight bezels are also new and the sills come with a new style. The brake callipers are also changed to silver and there is an integrated standard clear light lenses in the rear. The damping system on the 2003 model that is passive has been replaced with the Adaptive Damping System (ADS). This system enhances a comfortable ride and the handling is sharper when changed to sporty mode.

This damping system is successful because engineers already have a deeper understanding on the VH platform. Switching from one mode to another is controlled by pressing a button at the centre of the console. This damping system provides a tight control over the body and you experience a quick response when manoeuvring. Other features added to the 2011 DB9 is a new monitoring system for tire pressure. The microphone system for Bluetooth is also changed. New added specifications are the hi-fi Bang & Olufsen options and the finish trim that is double apex alloy. A 20-spoke diamond that is fabricated to turn into an alloy wheels are also incorporated in the new design.

Engine Performance

This car is able to deliver great performance because of its distinguished 6.0 litre V12 engine. The maximum torque in can produce is 442lb ft and the power delivered is 470bhp. The transmission is either a six-speed H-pattern or a six-speed “Touchtronic” paddle-shift automatic transmission. It can accelerate from rest to a maximum speed of 190 mph. In just 4.6 seconds, the supercar can already reach 60mph speed.

Cost

When 2011 Aston Martin is available, the price in UK at Coupe will start with £122,445 ($182,775) and for Volante’s starting price is £131,445 ($196,000).

Sport Category

Previous Aston Martin cars are known to have won several national and international car racing competitions. This supercar proves to be competitive especially in the GT1 category. In the year 2007 and 2008, the DBR9 model won back-to-back class victories in a 24 hour race at Le Mans. The new model Aston Martin DB9 is expected to surpass the previous models since it passes a rigid and thorough designs and engineering and it is the essence of a modernized Aston Martin DBR9.

The 2011 DB9 is a symbol of the uniqueness of Aston Martin supercars without sacrificing the design philosophy and creativity. It is one of the most beautiful cars in the world but not very flashy that every man will give a second glance.

Hyundai QarmaQ

hyundai-qarmaq.jpg

Hyundai has presented at the Geneva Show the series model i30 hatchback and the new QarmaQ concept. The crossover Concept, which has been announced in a sketch published a few weeks ago by Hyundai, brings an important change of approach in what concerns the materials used in its composition.
While the traditional cars use metal and glass, QarmaQ is assembled from plastic materials made by GE Plastics. The QarmaQ concept is the result of the cooperation between the 2 companies and brings, as novelty, a vista of the kind that only a view from the chopper gives, because of the great surface of the plasticized windows from the car’s body.
By integrating GE’s polycarbonate glazing wrap-around and the GE Lexan windscreens, the body weight of the cars is reduced by almost 50 %. A unique technology characterizes Lexan screens: Exatec Technology. It’ s a technology through which a thin, protective layer of glass is deposited on the screen, which helps when protecting from scratching or effects of humidity. The material, much lighter than traditional glass used in automotive industry, also increases the impact resistance and both occupant and pedestrian safety. When talking about pedestrian safety, we can also mention the system that uses deformable sections under the concept’s body panels, which is able to absorb crush energy in case a collision with a person may happen.
GE Plastics’ High Performance Thermoplastic Composite (which is used for the horizontal body panels) manages to also save some weight. 900 recycled plastic bottles have been used when manufacturing other body panels.
The new concept is a showcase of 30 new technologies that will be found in the future Hyundai models. The car is the result of the hard work of Hyundai Motor Europe’s Design and Technical Center and it has been engineered in cooperation with GE Plastics. It will be ready to roll in 2008 to 2014.

Bertone Barchetta Concept

bertone-barchetta-concept.jpg

Geneva heats again the spirit in auto world. A series of producers have already announced the models and concepts that will be revealed with this occasion, and others intend to do so. Geneva is the place where show up series cars, popular cars, but also a series of “weird” stuff or superexclusivist concepts. Some of these never reach the level of finished product and only some of the components are integrated in other models. We still do not know how the story of Bertone Roadster Concept will be finalised, but the car definitely manages in a natural way to capture ones imagination.
The model is a very refined, futuristic and aggressive one and it represents Bertone’s gift at its 95Th anniversary. The car has “pocket” sizes and it is built on FIAT Panda’s platform and the latter’s propeller of 100 HP is enough to get considerable appreciation. The Roadster can have on board 2 persons in an interior as extravagant as the exterior. The main design features come from Fiat 500 with Barchetta bodywork created by Nuccio Bertone (1947).
Why Fiat? Because there is a very strong link between the two companies, their relationship having lasted for more than eighty ears and having generated over fifty successful models concept cars (ex: 850 Spider to the X1/9, Ritmo Cabrio to the Punto Cabrio).
The result of this latest collaboration is a completely above fashion, futuristic car which although shows Bertone traditions (clean cut lines), also projects the concept of Barchetta into the future through great elegance and sophisticated irony.
Master panel beaters (still working for Bertone today) have entirely hand beaten the upper shell and the single piece of aluminium extends from the front tip of the bonnet to embrace the upper part of the sides and rear arches, terminating in the tail. Another patent of Bertone brand, the opening scissors doors are a proof of the company’s attention to the specific issue of accessibility.

Under the futuristic body there is a gear box coming from Panda and the engine that we have mentioned earlier:1.4 litres, 16 valves which develops 100 HP at 600 rpm and a driving torque of 131 NM. Panda reaches 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 185 Km /h. The Concept car is expected to obtain a higher performance due to it’s very light body.

Other Dimensions: Length: 3,585 mm; Width: 1,705 mm; Height: 1,090 mm; Wheelbase: 2,300 mm; Wheels: 20-alloys; Tyres: Pirelli 225/30 R20
