Engine & Performance

In order to keep up with consumer demand and needs, Hyundai drastically improved the specs on their Elantra Coupe. While it no longer has a manual transmission, it does have significant improvements.

The Elantra coupe comes with a 1.8 liter, four cylinder engine that gives you 173 horsepower and 154 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm. It is fuel efficient and is a great choice for those looking for an economical yet sporty coupe.

The previous Elantra Coupe engine did not have a GDI engine (which is a direct gasoline injection engine). This lowered its horsepower by a staggering 25 hp, meaning that the 2014 model is has a 17% HP increase!

Another aspect worth noting in the new Elantra Coupe is the suspension, which is necessary for drivers to have a more stable turning experience especially with the increased horsepower.

Interior

With controls around the steering wheel, an all black interior, a navigation system installed into the front console, the new Elantra Coupe is a vast improvement from previous years.

2013 xXx-Performance Audi R8 Biturbo

The German tuning company xXx recently announced their upgrade kit for the Audi R8.

Generically named the 2013 xXx-Performance Audi R8 Biturbo, the car comes with a few visual tweaks to complement some its major engine rework.

The company improved the V8 model to compete with its older brother, the V10 R8.2013-xXx-Performance-Audi-R8-Biturbo-settled-A

Specifications

General Info
Vehicle Type: Coupe Base Price: NA
Fuel Tank Capacity: 23.8 gals (90 L) Miles Per Gallon: NA
Dimensions*
Length: 175 in. (444.5 cm) Wheel Base: 104.3 in. (264.9 cm)
Height: 49.3 in. (125.2 cm) Width: 75 in. (190.5 cm)
Luggage Capacity: 3.5 cu ft Maximum Seating: 4 people
Performance
Engine: V8 Twin Turbo Displacement: 4.2 Liter
Horsepower: 707 HP Max RPM: NA
Torque: 488 lb-ft Transmission: 6-Speed Manual AWD
0-60 mph: 3.6 seconds Maximum Speed: 194 mph** (312 km/h)

* 2014 R8 Coupe specs
** Electronically Limited

Engine

The tuning team attempted to get more power out of the V8 engine. Successfully, what you get is a twin-turbo system added to the stock 4.2 liter V8 engine, increasing the horsepower to 707.

Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph comes at 3.6 seconds while the top speed has been electronically limited to 194 mph. The additional power required a new gearbox as well. xXx uses a new 6-speed manual gearbox and a new clutch.

Handling

The upgraded rims and tires offer better road grip and more stability when cornering. Its aerodynamic lines increases the downforce in the frontal part of the car giving it better stability at higher speeds.

However, due to the fact that the car is relatively close to the ground and its bigger rims make it difficult to drive on pock-marked roads.2013-xXx-Performance-Audi-R8-Biturbo--real-wide-C

Exterior

xXx did very little work on the exterior. It features the same large frontal grille to go with the additional air vents beneath the headlights. The air intakes on the side of the car are painted in black.

The rear received a few decals. On the sides, the twin-turbo manufacturer’s name has been painted on the lower half of the door. The stock wheels have been replaced by the 20 inch Oxigin 14 Oxrock rims.

The company will be offering three different upgrade packages but the twin-turbo version offers the highest power output gain. xXx’s kit adds a significant performance boost that gives the car the ability to compete against V10 engines.2013-xXx-Performance-Audi-R8-Biturbo-thumbnail-B

The exhaust system may actually drive the LaFerrari to 963 horsepower and more than 663 lb-ft of torque. The coupe may sprint from 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds, 0 to 124 mph in less than 7 seconds and 0 to 186 in less than 15 seconds.

Exterior

DMC took the liberty of putting in aerodynamic components that add to the visual appeal of the car and helps enhance the car’s performance and handling capabilities.

Up front, the vertical center fin on the bumper and lower horizontal fin are all gone. They have been replaced by a pair of carbon-fiber air intakes with a V-shape angle.

The line of the large central air vent on front hood has been extended to make it more aesthetically appealing. The door inset gets a black finish with multiple air intakes fitted to the doors.
