2012 Donkervoort D8 GTO

The Donkervoort D8 GTO is the product of 2-1/2 years of development. A joint project between Donkervoort and Audi, this car is a combination of high power and superior performance.

Exterior

The D8 GTO is significantly bigger than its D8 siblings, the GT coupe and the 270RS convertible. But the size is not just the new element in this new age road/track weapon. Technology honed from the aviation and aerospace industry, only a few parts were actually held over from the previous D8 cars.

Longer by 35 centimeters and wider by 15 centimeters, it has made possible 2 things, a more proportioned stance for better handling, and larger space to shoehorn into the hood a larger engine. But the innovations don’t end there. With a steel tubular frame and a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum body panels, the Donkervoort D8 GTO is somehow lighter and yet more rigid and safe.

Performance

And put a larger engine they did. The D8 GTO is equipped with an all new Audi engine. The 2.5 liter engine featuring a turbocharger and FSI direct injection, the engine produces a robust 340 horsepower. Not only that, by changing important components on the engine, this motor somehow weighs 30 kilos less than the engine wherein it was derived. This was made possible by attaching a new intake manifold, among other things.

No wonder Joos Donkervoort thinks that the D8 GTO is a milestone in his company’s 34 year history. And others also think so, with the first 25 D8 GTOs managed to sell within a few hours from release.

2013 BMW X6

When the 2013 BMW X6 was launched, the company described the car as a Sports Activity Coupe, a vehicle that was designed to include the dynamic properties of a sports car in a top-end coupe.

The car certainly has the sleek, swept back look of a sports vehicle and at the same time appears solid and reliable.

Performance Options

Buyers of this car have a choice of four powerful engines, two diesel and two gas. The diesel options are an X6 xDrive40d that produces 305 horsepower and an X6 xDrive30d that is slightly less powerful at 245 horsepower.

While these two engines provide powerful performance they also have impressively low emissions levels. The X6 xDrive30d can be fitted with the optional AdBlue system that reduces emissions even further.

In fact, with AdBlue in place the emissions from the car are already below the European standard that will be required from 2014.

The gas engine options are the 4395 cc BMW X6 xDrive50i and the 3.5-liter BMW X6 xDrive35i. These engines can deliver 407 horsepower and 306 horsepower respectively. These V8, in-line 6-cylinder engines include BMW’s TwinPower Turbo Technology and squeeze every last drop of available energy from the fuel.

Interior

Inside, the car is just as stylish as its exterior and the availability of a range of optional equipment can turn the car into a real luxury vehicle. The choice of smooth or perforated leather seat covers in a variety of different colors can be supplemented with an additional Dynamic package that replaces the sport front seats with comfort seats.

The comfort seats feature a variety of adjustments, including seat depth, and a memory function for up to two drivers.

The 2013 BMW X6 can be equipped with a Head Up Display (HUD), an idea borrowed from military aircraft design. With HUD essential information, for example, sat-nav guides, is displayed as an semi-opaque graphic on the windscreen. The driver can control the position and intensity of the image.

2012 Bentley Continental GT V8

The Bentley Continental has helped reestablished Bentley as one of the best producers of luxury sports cars in the world. The Continental line, with the GT coupe, the GTC convertible and the Flying Spur sedan, has been selling in high numbers, thanks to their superb combination of hand-built excellence with bone-crushing performance. In 2012, a new generation of this best-selling car has been released. But can it live up to the hype?

Specifications

General Info
Vehicle Type: Coupe Base Price: NA
Performance
Engine: 4.0 TFSI 32-valve V8 DOHC Displacement: 3993 cc
Horsepower: 500 HP Max RPM: 6000 RPM
Torque: 487 lb-ft @ 1700 rpm Transmission: 8-Speed Automatic
0-60 mph: 4.9 seconds Maximum Speed: 180 mph (290 km/h)

Interior & Exterior

The styling of the new Continental is still that same unmistakable one that people love. Smooth yet muscular, the new model is still the epitome of both power and finesse. The interior meanwhile still receives the customary Bentley treatment. Hand made to suit the tastes of even the most demanding of clients, its components are made of nothing but the finest materials.

Performance

As for the powertrain, the vaunted W12 twin-turbo engine producing over 600 horsepower remains. But for 2012, a new powerplant option steals the thunder, and deservingly so.

The new engine option is a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8. But if you think that this engine is a downgrade, think again. Sure, the power is down to 500 horsepower, but that is still more than formidable numbers. In fact, a sub 5 second zero-to-100 km/h time is still accomplished and it can still hustle up to a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour.

Efficiency

But what sets this engine apart is its efficiency. For the first time, the Continental can travel more than 800 kilometers in a single tank of gas. And if that’s not all, a 40 percent reduction of CO2 emissions has been attained with this car. With the 2012 Bentley Continental, the best just got even better.
