2013 Acura ILX

The 2013 ILX is Acura‘s entry-level, luxury model in the compact sedan class. The car is being specifically marketed as the car of choice for first time buyers in the luxury car market.

Reflecting the demographic of the target audience, the company has placed great emphasis on combining luxury with practicality, economy and reduced emissions.

Performance

The Acura has three options under the hood. Buyers can opt for a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder gas engine that will deliver a modest 150 horsepower and 140 lbs-feet of torque. This engine is coupled with a 5-speed, automatic transmission and, in highway driving, is capable of 32 mpg.

For those wanting more power, there is a 2.4-liter engine available, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This 2.4L engine produces 25% more power, generating 201 horsepower and 170 pounds-feet of torque.

The additional power is made available with hardly any loss in fuel efficiency. The 2.4-liter engine can get up to 29 mpg on the highway.

Hybrid Performance

The final option, which will appeal to city drivers and environmentally conscious drivers, is a hybrid gas/electric engine. This is the first hybrid in the Acura range. The combined engine can deliver 111 horsepower and 127 pounds-feet of torque.

This version of the car has Continuous Variable Transmission that automatically switches between the power sources.

Interior

Since the car is intended as a luxury model, the interior is finished to a very high standard. There are several trims to choose from, and a Premium and a Technology package available, making it possible to add even more opulence.

The Premium package offers leather-covered seats, with the adjustable front seats being heated. The package also includes an Active Sound Cancellation system to reduce unwanted noise in the car.

Navigation Aids

The 2013 Acura ILX can be supplied with a range of modern electronic devices to enhance the driving experience. These include real-time traffic information and re-routing information, satellite navigation, and real-time weather reports.

2013 Skoda Citigo 5-door

Something exciting is happening at Skoda.

At home, the Czechs are loving Skoda’s most recent offering to the fast growing subcompact market.

At just 3.56m long, this vehicle is compact enough for getting around town but roomy enough to be comfortable for four people to enjoy a trip away.

Interior

Aimed at the cost conscious, the 2013 Skoda Citigo 5-door is great value and looks set to make Skoda a model to be reckoned with in the subcompact market. With a 251 liter boot capacity – make that 33.8 cu ft when you fold down the back seat.

The new design for its 5-speed transmission saving weight and space in the vehicle’s engine, the resulting benefits all go back to the driver and passengers.

Features

One of the first features you notice when you drive the vehicle will be how quietly it runs. This is due to the pendulum style engine which has enabled the provision of firewall soundproofing.

With minimum engine noise you will want to consider the optional ‘move and fun’ system which includes a 5″ color touch screen, navigation, hands free phone, media player and vehicle information system.

Fuel Efficient

Optimal fuel efficiency in the city and urban environment is gained by the engine reaching its operating temperatures quickly – even during short trips. And if it is safety you are after, the 2013 Skoda Citigo 5-door rated five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test.

For the first time, Skoda is offering its Citigo with head and thorax airbags for the driver and front seat passenger. Interested in reducing the risk of inner city rear end crashes? Check out the new ‘city safe drive’ braking assistant which uses a laser sensor to detect an impending crash and comes into action if the driver doesn’t.

Details

Attention to detail must have been the designer’s brief when it came to putting the Skoda Citigo 5-door together. From its 19 slat chrome framed flat grille, to its big windows which provide excellent visibility to match the easy road handling, this vehicle is packed with detail.

Check out the integrated head rests on the seats, the cup and media holders, the storage nets at the sides of the front seat’s back rests, the photo-holder on the dash! Whether you are on the outside looking in, or on the inside looking out, the 2013 Skoda Citigo 5-door will impress.

2013 Rimac Concept One

A maximum output of over 1000 horsepower, an acceleration of 3 seconds or less, and a top speed of almost 200 miles an hour, have all been attained by an electric powered car. Yes, seriously. Breaking the mold of supercars and shattering the stereotype of an electric car as a boring and unreliable enterprise, the 2013 Rimac Concept One breaks out of the closet as perhaps the first true supercar that is purely powered by electricity.

Exterior & Interior

The super dynamic body, created by designer Adriano Mudri, is both super elegant and super aerodynamic. Even better is that this body is sculpted out of carbon fiber, creating an audaciously lightweight car that has legitimate supercar dynamics. The interior is designed by people that are formerly associated with the famed designer Pininfarina, and is adorned with high quality materials such as leather-wrapped seats and an infotainment system.

Performance

A unique powertrain is integrated for the Concept One. Featuring 4 different subsystems, with each having its own engine, inverter, and reduction gearbox, they have a cumulative maximum power output of 1088 horsepower. This gives this car some stunning performance numbers: a zero to 100 kilometers per hour dash of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of more than 300 kilometers per hour just to name a few. In addition, with batteries that carry a maximum charge of 92kWh, it is enough to carry this car to a distance of up to 600 kilometers before needing a recharge.

The Rimac Concept One is one unique car. Only 88 of these cars are going to be produced, and each car has the lofty reputation of being perhaps the first ever electric powered hypercar.

2012 Fiat Freemont AWD

The 2012 Fiat Freemont AWD is an upgraded version of the standard Freemont, with the addition of all wheel drive.

This addition gives the car excellent handling in difficult driving situations, providing excellent comfort and safety for the driver and six passengers that this crossover car can hold.

Seating

Because the Freemont is being marketed as an ideal family car, a lot of attention has been paid to its seating. The new Fiat Freemont has several innovative measures to provide for easy access to all seats, and to make seat adjustments as simple and convenient as possible.

The seating can be configured in 32 different ways. All of the seats, except the driver’s, can be folded down to create enormous cargo space. The third row seats can be folded down as a unit. Additionally, seats can be moved around with an easy-to-use system of slides.

The seats are tiered so that the third row is slightly raised above the second, and the second is raised above the front. This arrangement provides maximum forward visibility for rear seat passengers.

The two outer seats in the second row also incorporate a booster system, allowing further adjustment of the seats, to improve safety and comfort when children are being carried. These seat cushions can be raised by up to 4″, with the cushion tilting back at the same time.

Performance

You can choose from two engines. The base option is a 2.0-liter, gas powered, Fiat engine generating 170 horsepower. The other is a 3.6-liter, V6 Chrysler engine capable of 276 horsepower. Both engines are gas powered.

All Wheel Drive

The all while drive system is fully automatic. The controls continually monitors driving conditions and automatically compensates loadings when it detects traction problems.

With this ability to automatically cope with conditions varying from gravel to mud to snow and ice, the 2012 Fiat Freemont AWD provides a comfortable and safe driving experience in many different driving environments.
