Engine & Performance

The face-lifted SUV will carry over the V6 TDI engine from its predecessor in most world markets, and will maintain its 3.0-liter capacity.

As well as the environmental upgrades to ensure that it complies with emissions laws, the engines have been tweaked to give greater efficiency.

There are two standard variants, with 202 and 255 horsepower respectively.

North American customers will receive that more powerful 3.6-liter power-plant, which offers 280 horsepower. A more expensive variant aimed at power users has a V8 engine and can deliver up to 340 horsepower.

All 2015 Touareg’s will have an eight-speed auto gearbox, coasting ability, and all-wheel drive as standard.

Exterior

The new Touareg does not look different from the older model. However, the headlights have been increased in size to improve driver visibility.

The car’s front and rear profiles have also been subtly redesigned. The overall impression is one of evolutionary change rather than a complete break with the car’s previous incarnations.

Interior

There have been changes to the interior: the existing leather trim is accented in a new range of colors, while key parts of the dash are now picked out in chrome.

The electronic control center has been improved, with a new knob allowing quick access to many important functions.

Among these is the main screen, which supports Google Street View and Google Earth, as well as providing traffic updates. Safety features include nine airbags, blind-spot monitoring, and upgraded crash protection.

Other features

The 2015 Touareg boasts a range of special features, ranging from cosmetic changes to extra features to aid driver comfort and safety. These include a coasting facility to allow maximum fuel economy when acceleration is not required.

There is also an updated cruise control system for better highway cruising ability.

Volkswagen has made the engine compliant with the upcoming European EU-6 emissions requirements, while a new hybrid option allows the standard supercharged gasoline engine to be supported by electric power.
