Volkswagen is introducing their 2014 Golf Variant/Estate this summer. This all-round vehicle is based on the Golf VII and uses technologies and advantages of the revolutionary modular transverse matrix or MQB.
This means it is 105 kilograms lighter, has an optimized package with more cargo space, clean, sharp body proportions, brand new convenience and safety systems. The new gasoline and diesel engines improve fuel efficiency by 15%.

Engine & Performance
In the 2014 Golf Variant, the gasoline (TSI) and also the diesel (TDI) engines will be available with different power levels. There will be seven different engine versions offered at the launch. They will have the Stop/Start system, as well as the standard battery regeneration mode that transforms kinetic power into electric energy.
The Golf Variant comes with five and six speed gearboxes. Six of them whether, the TDI or TSI engines, can be combined with a six or seven-speed DSG. The new gasoline engines can produce 138 horsepower, 121 horsepower, 103 horsepower, and 84 horsepower.
The diesel-powered engines will vary in power from 109 hp, 103 and the top model will have 147 horsepower. Fuel consumption rates for the front wheel drive Golf Variants will have fuel efficient engines.
Exterior
The new Volkswagen Golf Variant is about 28 millimeters longer, 8 millimeters wider with the door mirrors, and 23 millimeters lower with the standard roof rails. The wheelbase is now longer at 2,635 millimeters. The new design gives the vehicle’s rear body region an incredibly muscular look.
The window sills design has been upgraded at the top with chrome. The side profile looks much more extended, distinctive, powerful and very sporty. Its standard roof rails have been integrated stylishly into the roof line.
Interior
The new Golf Variant has a wide center console and the infotainment touch screen is centrally mounted. The standard screen is five inches and eight inches with its turn knobs and main menu keys.
This is the very first time that Volkswagen has implemented an optional touch screen that has proximity sensors and features that responds to finger movements for clearing and zooming. To the driver’s right are the new electronic parking brake buttons.
