2013 Volkswagen Design Vision GTI Concept

This is not a “Bug”. The 2013 Volkswagen Design Vision GTI Concept is a vision from the German automaker that screams “Production Line!”

No matter when (or if) Volkswagen offers this model for the public, it suggests a look into what should be a bright future for the Golf GTI.

As if the question, “How can they further improve the Golf GTI?” was being answered, the Design Vision Concept in part provides VW followers something to look forward to.

Engine & Performance

As impressive as it is from the outside, the 2013 GTI Concept is even more intimidating under the hood. You find a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 that generates an amazing 503 HP.

The engine is paired with a DSG dual clutch automatic transmission. It features an all wheel drive system. It is capable of accelerating from 0-62 in just under 4 seconds with a top speed of 186 MPH.

Exterior

The front of the Volkswagen Design Vision GTI Concept is quite imposing. Its appearance is like a menacing predator. In a very futuristic manner, VW has combined the hood, front fenders and radiator grille into an integrated fascia that flows seamlessly together.

The headlamps on top and air inlets on the bottom match up nicely within this coordinated effort. The red stripe across its façade is the perfect accent. The profile of the Design Vision GTI incorporates slightly recessed doors, trimmed out in black leading to side vertical air outlets toward the front.

The 20 inch wheels look huge. The rear views most distinctive feature may be the claw like appointments beneath the sharp taillight design.

The cars exterior specifications reveal that this concept car is lower, wider and shorter than the current GTI.

Interior

The inside of the 2013 Design Vision GTI Concept is subtle but sharp. The ergonomic setup begins with easy to use direct shift gearbox (DSG) paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

The use of leather, anthracite and carbon fibers on the seats and dash gives this interior a race car feel. The GTI’s control panel is easily accessible housed within the center console. A large display dominates the center dash.
