The first Pontiac Firebird manufactured by General Motor’s Pontiac division came out in 1967, the same year GM also released the Chevrolet Camaro with which it shares a platform. General Motors has no plans to revive the Firebird despite reviving its cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro, for 2010. This is because the Pontiac brand will be discontinued after 2010.
