Engine & Performance

The new 2015 Yukon XL will have a more powerful and efficient engine. Your choise of either a 5.3L V8 EcoTec engine producing 355 horsepower, is standard in all Yukon and Yukon XL models; and a 6.2 liter option for more power.

The engine features technologies such as direct injection, continuously variable valve timing, cylinder deactivation, and an advanced combustion system. All this is designed to make most of the power, better efficiency and torque. The controlled combustion feature enables the engine to run with higher compression ratio to deliver greater power and efficiency.

An electric throttle control, hydraulic engine mounts, improved aerodynamics, adaptive exhaust systems and other technologies help the engine operate in 4-cylinder mode for long time periods while working with the Active Fuel Management system.

The engines are matched with the Hydra-Matic 6L80 6-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior

Body styling cues are highly detailed with the use of chrome-accented grilles matched with the GMC’s signature C-shaped light-emitting diode, lighting motif, rear and front. Other features include new inlaid doors, and lightweight aluminum hood and lift-gate panels.

In addition, laminated windshield and front glass doors help improve cabin noise. The model also features a family of 18, 20, or 22 inch wheels, the standard 20 inch wheels come with the Denali.

Ambient lighting have been placed in areas they are most likely to be needed. All seats come with dual-firmness foam; it doesn’t hurt to have a Bose sound system.

An ambient air vent is designed to enhance comfort for the passengers. Basically the SUV features active noise cancellation technology to keep the interior quiet. More impressively, the Yukon XL has a compartmentalized center console that is big enough to store an iPad or a laptop.
