2014 Datsun redi-Go Concept

If you are of the “Baby Boomer” generation you may remember Datsun as one of the popular vehicles in the mid to late seventies as muscle cars began to die off and were replaced with fuel efficient sub-brands.

With the introduction of the 2014 Datsun redi-Go Concept car at the 12th India Auto Expo 2014, Nissan appears ready for another run of former glory.

The crossover hatchback is not expected to be seen on an assembly line anytime soon, but is a natural for an emerging market such as India.

Engine & Performance

Once again there is little detail regarding the redi-Go Concept’s engine.

An educated guess would have it be in the 1.2 liter range accompanied by a 5 speed transmission. The engine would generate 100 horsepower and 90 pound-feet of torque.

The 2014 redi-Go Concept has many of the same characteristics as displayed on the recent 2014 Datsun Go hatchback. The differences would be evident on its rounded shape and high ride of the redi-Go Concept.

This design accentuates its intent on entering the crossover market.

Also added are LED running lights and taillights. The headlights have a neat horizontal orientation which fits nicely with the curves of the front bumper.

The rear view shows a substantially sized upswing tailgate with vertically mounted tail lamps on either side. The bottom of the tailgate is integrated smoothly into the back bumper.

A touch of sportiness is attained with the 15 inch wheels. Oversized front and rear wheel arches add to its appeal.

There was not much information released concerning the 2014 Datsun redi-Go Concept, but suffice it to say the quarters may be tight.

You may also expect to see the same infotainment system fitted within the center console as is the case for the previously mentioned 2014 Datsun Go hatchback.
