In 1967 Chevrolet built a special version of the Camaro to compete in the Trans-Am 2 class on the Sports Club of America circuit. The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, while not made specifically for the track, would surely be able to hold its own.
Within its own family the Z28 is much lighter and faster than its ZL1 sibling. “Muscle” car lovers might find themselves comparing it to the Ford Mustang Boss 302, and would revel watching these 2 side by side on a drag strip.

Engine & Performance
The 2014 Camaro Z28 is equipped with a powerful LS7, a 7.0 Liter V8, packed with 505 horsepower naturally aspirated engine, similar to that in the Corvette Z06.
The only transmission offered is a Tremec TR6060 manual transmission and configured as a rear wheel drive. This Z28 will “fly” from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds and top out at a speed of 180 mph.
Exterior
The new Camaro Z28 is aerodynamically designed. The front façade features a large splitter. The front and rear wheel wells have a huge flare and there are rocker panels on each side. The rear includes a trunk mounted spoiler and an operational diffuser.
The rear window is smaller than the ZL1 as a weight saving measure. Gone are the HID headlights and fog lamps too. The overall savings in pounds equals 300.
Interior
Inside the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, you will find a matte-metallic octane finish trim. The steering wheel is flat bottomed and the Recaro, micro-fiber suede insert seats are inspired by racing buckets with a 5 point harness design.
With another consideration to weight, air conditioning and a 6 speaker audio system (vs. just one speaker otherwise) are offered as options.
This retro named vehicle comes with a price tag of $75,000, quite the pricey Camaro. With its Spring release timeframe, it should be available in most areas now.
