2014 BMW 5-Series

As might be expected after just a few years since the BMW 5-Series introduction, the 2014 version does not include any major changes. With its history of success, BMW improved the efficiency and aesthetics just enough to make the 2014 BMW 5-Series worthy of a second look.

BMW is recognized as the top seller of the premium end vehicles in the executive market. The 5-Series sedans are expected to hit dealer showrooms around August. The 528i sedan is expected retail close to $50,000, with the higher end of the spectrum, the 550i XDrive just a little over $65,000.

Engine & Performance

More options are available under the hood of the 2014 5-Series depending upon the model you choose. You will find the standard inline 4 240 horsepower engine more than sufficient in moving you from point A to point B.

If you are in a hurry, the 4.4 liter V8 engine that gives you 400 horsepower is capable of going from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 155 miles per hour. All powertrains are paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission that includes Optimum Shift Indicators, Auto Start-Stop functionality and Brake Energy Regeneration.

Exterior

Up front, new contour lines accentuate the traditional kidney shaped grille. The prestigious BMW logo is set in its usual location centered above the grille area. The lower air intakes have also been updated.

Xenon headlights are standard with adaptive LED’s as an option. Another fresh feature finds the indicator lights integrated into the side mirrors. An extra crease has been added to the rear apron.

Perhaps the 2014 5-Series most striking design change is in its taillights that begin in the rear fender and finish within the plane of the trunk lid.

Interior

Similarly, the interior of the new BMW 5-Series has not undergone any changes. However, who needs alterations when you already are looking at near perfection.

Some chrome trim was added surrounding the control display just to heighten its allure. A more practical modification are the enlarged the cup holders and center console to increase the on board storage areas.
