Engine And Design

This concept car is designed for ultimate personalization through McLaren Special Operations (MSO). It is engineered to be drivable, and is legal to drive on the road, not just to admire.

The 616 Horsepower, twin-turbo engine provides exceptional acceleration, and top speed. McLaren Special Operations has taken one client’s desires in a car, and brought it to life. It is a drivable, high-speed, luxury car, with a unique body design resembling a futuristic car. The goal is to create something classical with timeless elegance.

The McLaren X-1 Concept’s body is made of panels of carbon, finished in piano black, and lacquered with carbon fiber, making for an exquisite finish. Its unique head and taillights are made of solid aluminum, with a nickel finish.

Exclusive to the X-1, are the diamond-turned wheels, with complimentary tinted lacquer. Another unique styling feature is the over-the-shoulder rails at the bottom of the windshield, and rear window, along with enclosed rear wheels. Attention to detail is shown by illuminating the rear plate.

Interior

The McLaren interior architecture may remain the same in the X-1, but it is enhanced with Red, Nappa leather seats, doors, and roof trim. The Andesite-tufted carpet is another high-quality feature added.

The carbon, titanium weave trim in the interior, gives the car a 3-dimensional effect, and adds to its classy look. The sides are part of the dihedral action doors, with twin hinges, giving the car a bat mobile look that is quite unique, and fascinating to look at.

*Engine specs same as BMW Z4 35is

Engine

Although the roadster was introduced at Pebble Beach in August, 2012, very little has been released about engine specifications. It is hinted, that the engine of the roadster will be based on the Z4’s sDrive35iS, which is powered by a turbocharged, six-cylinder, 3.0 liter engine. Additional detailed specifications will be released at a later date.

Exterior

This roadster’s exterior is stunning, with a sweeping hood line, short overhangs, long wheelbase, and a low back end, allowing for an athletic appearance. Its low-set grill, with “z-design grating”, twin circular headlights with an LED light strip on top of each headlight, adds a touch of class. The 3-dimensional apron and wide, powerful-looking nose which dips give a low to the road appearance.

The body is aerodynamically built, with a pair of intakes carved into the hood, supplying air to the engine compartment. The 19-inch, 5-spoke wheels, and the darker gray to light silver color, add that look of sophistication, and sportiness. Zagato roll-bars, an important design element, are inspired by aircraft wing components, and Zagato’s signature roof, with the double bubble, extends the lines of the hood, from front to rear.

Interior

Transitional colors are used in horizontal, sweeping lines inside the doors, and the full-length console. The warm, brown shades of leather are wrapped around the black interior, with contrast stitching on the doors, seats, steering wheel, and console.

A signature Z is elegantly stitched into the comfortable leather seats, as a reminder of their origin. Specific features have not yet been released, but the 2012 BMW Zagato Roadster is a great-looking car that combines the superb styling of Zagato and BMW.
