Used Pontiac

Pontiac refers to a brand of automobiles manufactured by General Motors. The first Pontiacs were produced in 1926. Currently, until 2010, Pontiacs are sold in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Pontiac has the reputation of being a masculine and athletic brand. The Pontiac brand has had success in its line, with cars that have etched themselves into popular culture such as the Firebird, Bonneville, and Trans Am. The brand’s logo used to be an American Indian headdress. This was stopped in 1957. Since then, an American Indian red arrowhead logo, also called the Dart is the brand’s logo. Another prominent feature in every Pontiac car’s design are the Silver Streaks, which are either a single or more narrow strips of stainless steel that stretch from the car’s grille the hood’s center.

On April 27, 2009, General Motors announced that the Pontiac brand will be phased out by the end of the year 2010. This will allow the financially-ailing GM to focus on its core brands in the American market – Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. Several interested buyers are now in talks with GM to sell the Pontiac brand.
