The Jeep Renegade currently is a concept car under the Jeep marque of Chrysler Motors. Mechanical features of the Renegade include an advanced propulsion system containing a 40-mile lithium-ion battery pack. For travel beyond 40 miles, a range extender in the form of a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder BLUETEC diesel engine is available. The Jeep Renegade concept car has a 400-mile range.
The BLUETEC engine also gives the car an additional 115 horsepower, and is very environment friendly. The exteriors of the Renegade are also very environmental. Its design has large wheel openings that flare, tires that are oversized, and a speedster windshield that has a cut-down design. The interior design is based on sustainability, which takes into consideration the proportion of energy needed to build and ship the car and the environmental effects of the processes. Environmentally responsible materials were chosen so that they can be recycled when the car 's life ends.
