The Ford Excursion enjoyed its reign as Ford Motor’s largest SUV for five years – from 2000 to 2005. The CAFE, or Corporate Average Fuel Economy regulates the fuel economy of SUVs, which the Ford Excursion was exempted to because it was classified as a both usable for rural and commercial purposes, not just as a sport utility vehicle.
