The MDX, a mid-sized crossover sports utility vehicle (SUV), is manufactured by Acura, the luxury car unit of Honda Motor. The Acura MDX was designed to suit the requirements of a large traveling family. This SUV was introduced for the 2001 model year and was distinctive for being the first crossover SUV to feature a third-row seating. It is closely related to the Honda Pilot, with its MDX moniker standing for “Multi-dimensional Luxury”. It was manufactured by the Honda unit in Alliston, Ontario, Canada.
The MDX’s late 2000 launching for the 2001 model year was geared to replace the Isuzu Trooper-based SLX which was then having sluggish performance in the market.
