The twelfth most populated city in the United States is San Francisco. This is home to one of the most recognizable landmarks, the historic and world famous Golden Gate Bridge. It was named after Saint Francis of Assisi, the city is also known as the “City by the Bay.”

The city of San Francisco is among the most popular tourist destinations in the country. The Mediterranean climate this city has makes it an ideal place for visitors and residents to take pleasure in. The city enjoys mild, wet winters and pleasantly dry and cool summers. This is mostly due to the fact that the cool currents brought about by the Pacific Ocean. In very rare occasions, residents experience snow in this area; fog blankets are quite common in this city which can in effect cover the western half of San Francisco during the spring and summer which lasts all day long.

Other bodies of water which can be found in this city would include the salt marsh ecosystem of Crissy Field, Aquatic Park and Lake Merced. Nature parks and other common places would include the Golden Gate Park, San Francisco Zoo, Candlestick Point, Japanese Tea Garden, Conservatory of Flowers, and the San Francisco Botanical Garden.
