The largest city in the state of Florida is Jacksonville. This city played a key role during the American Civil War where cattle and hogs was the supply point for the Confederate causes. Jacksonville has later been known to have experienced what was called “The Great Fire of 1901”. This was biggest fire disaster known to have havocked a great number of residents and business within a short span of eight hours.
This city has a humid subtropical climate. During the summer, Jacksonville experiences hot weathers with temperatures rising to 33 degrees Celsius. And during the winter, residents appreciate the mild weather and temperatures of about 19 degrees Celsius.
Jacksonville has been known to be dedicated to supporting the performing arts and entertainment industry. It is home to the Florida Theater, which is one of the last four high-style movie palaces, built in Florida during the 1920’s. They also have Theatre Jacksonville, which is one of the oldest community theaters in the country. There is also the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena and the Alhambra Dinner Theater.
The city also holds annual festivities for various purposes for the enjoyment of both the locals and the tourists. The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, Plantfest, Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair, The AT&T Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, World Of Nations Celebration, The Gate River Run and the Jacksonville Jazz and Film Festivals. And apart from these celebrations there is more to see in this city, they take great pride in their schools, libraries, and museums.
