This years annual New York Auto Show unveiled the new 2014 Toyota Highlander. The mid-size sports utility vehicle is part of Toyota’s third generation and hopes to capture the market for SUV’s.

Engine & Performance

The new Highlander comes with the base 2.7 liter four cylinder engine. The high powered engine will be coupled with a six speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. With new advanced torque control and all-wheel drive, the Highlander will provide drivers with the ultimate experience.

You also have option to choose the larger 3.5 liter V6 that provides 270 horsepower, or, the fuel saving engine 3.5 liter DOHC that nets you 280 hybrid system horsepower.

Toyota’s engineers have made improvements to the spring rates and shock absorbers to increase the SUV’s handling capabilities and safety procedures.

Exterior

The new Highlander has seen its silhouette transformed into a sleeker version of the previous model. The Highlander’s length has been stretched 3 inches and the width of the vehicle has grown one half inch, giving the SUV a more sophisticated appearance. In addition, the side door panels have been reshaped and the roof line lowered for a better aerodynamic force.

The front of the SUV features a newly designed hood and grille. This gives way to the intricately carved fenders and wraparound headlamps, conveying a sharp look. There is also a redesigned lift gate that comes equipped with a one touch power controller for the ultimate in functionality.

Interior

The 2014 Highlander has given itself an interior upgrade. Engineers have utilized premium materials and design features for the interior of the vehicle. In addition to a spacious interior that can accommodate up to 8 people, the soft touch instrument panel and chrome plated accents add just the right amount of luxury.

Leather trimmed seats, high quality fabrics and wood grain trim find their way into the Highlander’s interior. Drivers can also find ambient lighting surrounding the dash board and doors to bring that subtle touch of refinement.

In addition, Toyota is keeping with its standard 8 airbags and Star Safety System, which will include Smart Stop Technology. With all of these new features in tow, the 2014 Toyota Highlander will be ready to hit showrooms early next year.
