Advocate72 seems to think the 427 stands for cubic inches. It doesn’t. It’s just a name. This car actually has 281 cubic inches which works out to 1.54 hp per cubic inch. It that rate, if this car really had 427 cubic inches, it would be making 661 hp. This raises an interesting question. Why did Ford call this Mustang a 427?

There is a HUGE problem here or am I the only one that see’s it??? A Supercharged 427 and it only puts out 435 hp WHAT THE HELL IS THAT??? I mean for a 427 and Supercharged on top of that I would expect nothing less than 600hp or better.
