Audi A4 (B5)

The Audi A4 B5 version was launched in the year 1994 and its production ended in the year 2001.

It was first manufactured as a four door sedan and later five door Avant has been introduced. The European versions consisted of 1.6 and 2.8 liter engines that deliver an output power of 89 bhp to 108 bhp. The Audi A4 is also the first to feature 1.8L 20V turbocharged engine. This engine delivered an output power of 148 bhp and 155 lb-ft torque.

In between 1998 to 2001 several modifications have been done which included the new 2.8L V6 30-valve engine and 2.5L V6 turbocharged diesel engine with six speed manual transmission and delivered an output power of 148 bhp. Also the exteriors, interiors, door handles, headlights and rear lights are also modified.

• 2.4 V6 30V DOHC engine that delivered an output power of 163 bhp, 170 lb-ft torque and the top speed is about 140 mph.
• 2.6 V6 12V SOHC engine that delivered an output power of 148 bhp, 166 lb-ft torque and the top speed is about 137 mph.
• 2.8 V6 30V SOHC engine that delivered an output power of 190 bhp, 207 lb-ft torque and the top speed is about 149 mph.

The petrol engines used in the B5 are: –

• 1.9 DI I4 8V SOHC engine that delivered an output power of 74 bhp, 111 lb-ft torque and the top speed is about 106 mph.
• 1.9 TDI I4 8V SOHC engine that delivered an output power of 89 bhp, 149 lb-ft torque and the top speed is about 114 mph.
• 1.9 TDI I4 8V SOHC engine that delivered an output power of 108 bhp, 173 lb-ft torque and the top speed is about 121 mph.
• 1.9 TDI I4 8V SOHC engine that delivered an output power of 113 bhp, 210 lb-ft torque and the top speed is about 124 mph.
• 2.5 V6 TDI 24V DOHC engine that delivered an output power of 148 bhp, 229 lb-ft torque and the top speed is about 1237 mph.

Audi A4 (B6)

The Audi A4 B6 version was launched in the year 2001 and its production ended in the year 2005.

The styling for the B6 version was done based on Audi A6. It consisted of 1.6 L petrol and gasoline engines and it also featured a 1.6 L I4 engine that delivered an output power of 148 bhp and 178 bhp with six speed manual transmission. Later this engine was replaced by 2.0L I4 20V engine that delivers an output power of 217 bhp and 221 lb-ft torque. It also features Anti-lock braking system, Electronic Stability Program and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

In the year 2002, 1.8 turbo engine was used, and it delivered an output power of 161 bhp to 187 bhp. Later 4.2 L V8 engine was used which delivers an output power of 339 bhp.

Audi A4 (B7)

The Audi A4 (B7) version was launched in the year 2005 and its production ended in the year 2008.

The 2005 models consisted of 2.0 L 20V I4 and 3.2 L V6 FSI engines in both petrol and gasoline versions. These engines consisted of four valves for each cylinder and delivered an output power of 197 bhp and 252 bhp. Later 2.0 L I4 TDI engine with 16 valves has been used, and this engine was replaced by 3.0 L V6 TDI engine that delivers an output power of 230 bhp.

In the next models, four wheel drives was common and six speed automatic multitronic transmissions was used in the place of five speed manual transmission. The car also features side airbags, curtain airbags and Anti-lock Braking System.

Ford Aspire was a car sold in the US and Canada by Ford Motors Company from 1994-1997. It is the Ford Festiva’s subcompact car second-generation. Ford Aspire was designed as a hatchback with either three or five doors. Aspire vehicles were produced in South Korea by Kia Motors while the engines and components were done in Japan by Mazda. It was known in Japan and Australasia as the Ford Festiva. In North America, Ford Aspire was known to be the first one in its class to be produced with dual air bags and an optional four-wheel ABS.

From 1994-1995, one SE model included a tachometer, wheels with alloy and a rear spoiler. In also included an upgraded interior with fog lights and SE badging. Minor changes such as the inclusion of an oval grille and rounded headlamps were made in 1997.

However, it was mentioned in the book, The World’s Worst Cars because of its tendency to rust. Other weak points include some problems with its chassis and break lamp assemblies which are prone to water leaks.
