Used Chrysler Prowler

Chrysler Prowler 150

When you say Chrysler and retro design, only one car comes to mind: the Chrysler Prowler. Yes, that open, Indy-racer-inspired front wheels on the Prowler are unmistakable. Chrysler engineers came up with an interesting design for the Prowler when they were given the green light to do whatever they wanted in a sportster or hot rod car. And the outcome was, of course, the Chrysler Prowler.

Manufactured in 1997 and from 1999 to 2002, the Prowler has more than just a striking retro design. On the outside, it has an aluminum body and strongly bonded components. Under the hood lies a 3.5-liter SOHC V6 engine that generates 214 horsepower. In 1999, a more powerful 253-horsepower engine replaced the original one. Both engines have four-speed automatic transmission found at the rear area of the car. A flexible driveshaft, which spins at engine speed, connects the transmission to the engine. This design allows for a good weight distribution in the car.

Chrysler PT Cruiser 150

The Chrysler PT Cruiser, which got its inspiration from the panel vans of the 1930s, was one of the few cars to carry the new retro trend in the automotive world. Launched in 2001, the PT Cruiser caters to auto enthusiasts who desire a spacious vehicle interior with unique styling. Almost a decade later, it never lost its luster—it is still functional and versatile. Also, it stands as one of the affordable vehicles in the auto market today.

The latest Chrysler PT Cruiser is a four-door wagon with two choices for the engine: a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that cranks out 180 horsepower (for Limited trim level) and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 150 horsepower (for Touring and base levels). The PT Cruiser does not disappoint when it comes to interior design with its adequate headroom and seating space. It offers 26 various cargo and seating space arrangements. Used Chrysler Royal

Chrysler Royal 150

One of the lowest-priced Chrysler models during its time, the Chrysler Royal was manufactured from 1937 to 1942 and from 1946 to 1950. The Chrysler Windsor took its place at the end of 1950, but that was not the end for the Royal. Chrysler’s division in Australia revived the Royal in 1957; the outcome was known as the Chrysler Royal AP1. The Royal underwent another makeover the following year this time, the vehicle had major styling changes, including a new horizontal bar grille, a chrome spear with fins, and a V symbol at the middle of the grille (which stood for V8 engines in Royals). Third-generation Royals received more improvements in terms of performance and aesthetics during the 1960s. The most noticeable changes include three taillights at the rear of the fins, a ribbon-type speedometer, and a three-speed transmission.

The Royal was popular during its time. Although it seems that the vehicle has lost its old glory, a number of collectors and restorers still appreciate the beauty of this classic car.

Estimated Price Range for Used Chrysler Royal: $4,000-$64,000

Used Pontiac Vibe

Pontiac Vibe 150

The Pontiac Vibe is a product of a cooperative effort between General Motors and Toyota. This compact car with a hatchback design is manufactured in Fremont, California, by NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc), the company formed through the joint forces of Toyota and GM. The Vibe is badged and marketed under the Pontiac brand of General Motors. Toyota produced its own version of the Vibe, the Toyota Voltz, which unfortunately was phased out after poor sales figures. From 2003 until 2006, the Vibe was available in 3 trims base (the most economical), mid-trim (with all-wheel drive), and GT (more powerful and athletic looking). For 2007, the mid-trim and GT were discontinued. Both first and second generation Vibe vehicles reported good sales figures. Deliveries of the second generation Vibes were done in March 2008. For its fuel efficiency and compact size, the police force of Cahokia, Illinois added the Pontiac Vibe to its fleet.

The Pontiac Vibe is affected by GM’s 2009 decision to discontinue all Pontiac vehicles. The last of the Pontiac Vibes will be produced in August of 2009.
