Used Pontiac LeMans

Pontiac LeMans 150

From 1961, the Pontiac division of General Motors manufactured a line of compact and intermediate-sized cars branded as Pontiac LeMans. The Pontiac Le Mans was produced annually for 20 years until 1981, when it was discontinued and replaced by a smaller Pontiac Bonneville. For 5 years, from 1988 until 1993 Daewoo manufactured a car branded as Daewoo LeMans. The first Le Mans cars were introduced as an upgraded, high-class version of the Pontiac Tempest. Known then as the Temptest LeMans, the vehicle was built on a new Y platform by GM, and featured a more luxurious and sportier Tempest. A convertible model was introduced a year later, running on an I4 4bbl carbureted engine. There was no available four-door sedan or station wagon body styles for the LeMans, unlike its predecessor. The following year, the LeMans became its own model to be used only as a brand for convertibles and coupes. As with all GM cars, the LeMans was also redesigned to be downsized in the late 1970s in response to the ongoing oil crisis. The LeMans lost over 600 pounds of its weight with this redesign. After 1982, when the LeMans brand was dropped, it was rebranded as a mid-sized Bonneville.

In 1986, South Korean carmaker used the LeMans brand and produced the subcompact Daewoo LeMans until 1994. Two models were available for the Daewoo LeMans a 2-door coupe and a four-door sedan.

Used Pontiac Montana

Pontiac Montana 150

The Pontiac Montana is actually a rebranded minivan manufactured by General Motor’s Pontiac division. Before the Montana’s launch in 1997, it was badged as the Pontiac Trans Sport. The Montana brand actually started out as a sub-brand for a new trim package of the 1997 Trans Sport. The popularity of the trim package convinced GM to make the Montana a separate line two years later in the United States and the following year in Canada 1999. Even with criticism on its crash test results when it first came out, the brand continued to flourish, with the issue addressed in the alter Montana SV6 model. A top-of-the-line model was introduced in 2002, the Montana Thunder which has 16″ 5-spoke chrome rims, and an upgraded spoiler at the back of the roof rack. A renovation of the minivan’s name (it became Montana SV6) and design happened in 2005 with a nose that looks higher and less aerodynamic. Giving it the look of an SUV.

Slow sales in the United States made General Motors decide to discontinue the Montana in 2006. The Mexican and Canadian markets will continue to have the Montana until its 2009 model year. Since its introduction, the Montana has enjoyed a warm reception in the Canadian markets, always being included in year-end Top 10 lists of the best minivans in Canadian car publications.

Pontiac Solstice

Pontiac Solstice 150

The Pontiac division of General Motors has a small sports car line called the Pontiac Solstice. It made its debut in the North American International Auto Show in 2004. General Motor’s plant in Wilmington, Delaware started production in 2005 for the model year of 2006. The Solstice shares the Kappa platform of GM with the Saturn Sky and Opel GT. A model with a new hardtop targa was announced in mid 2008 and was made available the following year. The Pontiac Solstice was a best-seller for GM, with delays in the delivery of ordered units that it had to increase production. Consequently, the retail price of the car increased from its introductory $20,490 to $22,115 currently. Two years after its debut, a GXP version was introduced in 2006 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Even with very good sales, the Pontiac Solstice will be ending its run by the end of 2010 with all the rest of the Pontiac brands.

In the 1970’s, the Pontiac division of General Motors added two small car lines in their product offerings. The second line of cars was branded as the Pontiac Sunbird. It was first brought to the public’s attention in 1975 for the 1976 model year. It continued for 5 more years before taking a 2 year hiatus, with which in 1982, the manufactured Sunbirds were called the Pontiac J2000. Pontiac resumed the manufacture of the Sunbird in 1983 until 1995, when it was discontinued and replaced in the Pontiac lineup by the Pontiac Sunfire. The Sunbird was available for 18 years all in all and had 4 body styles the coupe, convertible, station wagon, and hatchback styles. This subcompact vehicle that can seat four passengers had its design based on the Chevrolet Vega, another GM car.

Used Pontiac Sunfire

Pontiac Sunfire 150

As the Pontiac Sunbird’s replacement, the compact car Pontiac Sunfire was first manufactured in 1994 for the 1995 model year. A number of drastic changes were introduced with the Sunfire, including structural updates in its J platform to adhere to stricter federal safety standards. Two models were available for the Sunbird’s initial run a convertible and a coupe model. It was also available two trims in standard and GT trims. However, after the year 2000, the convertible model was discontinued. A new and updated Sunfire was introduced that year. GM plants that manufactured the Sunfire were those in Lordstown, Ohio, Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, and Lansing, Michigan for the convertible models. Before it was discontinued, the Sunbird’s price was at $11,500.

The Sunbird received a poor rating in the frontal crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Pontiac G5 was produced as the Sunbird’s replacement for the 2007 model year.
