Used Acura NSX

Acura NSX 150

The NSX dazzled the auto market in North America when it was introduced by Honda Motor’s luxury car division Acura in 1990. The Acura NSX was the first car to feature, a suspension and body incorporating a revolutionary extruded exotic aluminum alloy frame and an all-aluminum chassis. Almost 200 kg in weight was saved in the car by the usage of aluminum in car’s the body alone compared to using steel. An added 20 kg weight saving was realized with the use of an aluminum suspension.

The mid-engined, rear-wheel drive NSX also had an all-aluminum V6 gasoline engine featuring Honda’s VTEC (variable valve timing and lift electronic control) system which was a novel feature in US cars. Another desirable feature included a suspension compliance pivot that kept wheel alignment changes at near-zero value. In addition, titanium connecting rods in the engine permitted reliable high-rpm operation. The NSX likewise boasted of an independent, an electric power steering system, and a four-channel anti-lock brake system.

Used Acura RDX

Acura RDX 150

The introduction of the RDX marked the first time that the luxury car division of Honda Motor had a compact crossover sports utility vehicle as an entry in the US market. The Acura RDX is also distinctive for being one of the first and only four-cylinder powered luxury SUVs. The RDX, which first went on sale in 2006, is powered by Acura’s first turbocharged gasoline engine.

Manufactured entirely of aluminum, the 2.3-liter straight-4 K23AI engine of Acura RDX sports dual balance shafts and an i-VTEC (variable valve timing and lift electronic control) head. This SUV’s variable flow turbocharger cuts turbo lag by using a valve to narrow the exhaust passage at low rpm, boosting the velocity of the exhaust flow which keeps the turbine spinning swiftly. At higher rpm, the valve opens to allow more exhaust flow for additional boost. The engine also boasts of a top-mounted intercooler which receives air from the grille, channeled through ducts under the hood. The RDX also uses a unique platform developed specifically for the vehicles advanced all-wheel drive setup.

Used Acura RL

Acura RL 150

The luxury car division of Honda Motor, Acura launched the RL as its flagship car in 1996. The first generation Acura RL was actually a rebadged variant of the third-generation Honda Legend. Now marketed in its second generation, the current RL from Acura was first sold in the market in September 2005 for the 2005 model year. This version too is a rebadged variant of the fourth-generation Honda Legend.

Power of the first-generation RL’s is delivered by a 225-hp (168 kW) 90º C-series V6 non-VTEC engine. The second-generation RL sported a newer design 60 º J-series 3.5L V6 SOHC VTEC engine producing 300 hp [224 kW but which was later revised to 290 hp (220 kW) because of new SAE testing standards]. For a more sporty feel, the car incorporates a drive-by-wire throttle control and a five-speed sequential sport shifting automatic transmission with shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel that is characteristic of the current, racing-car inspired fashion. Both the first- and second generation Acura RL use premium unleaded fuel rated at 91 (R+M)/2 octane.

Used Acura RSX

Acura RSX 150

The Acura RSX is the North American version of the compact luxury car of Honda which is marketed as the Integra DC5 in Japan. The RSX was introduced in the US market in 2002, and was sold in its base and Type-S trim levels, both of which come equipped with K-series engines which can be significantly tuned later on. The K-series motor, is much-vaunted for its intelligent VTEC or i-VTEC under which valve lift, valve timing, and valve duration are adjusted electronically.

This feature gives the 2.0L engine a flatter torque curve compared to previous VTEC versions which only have valve lift and valve duration adjustments. The base RSX has an option for either s five speed manual or an automatic transmission. It sports a K20A3 motor with an output of 160 hp (119 kW). The Type-S K20A2 engine has a 200-hp power for the 2002-2004 models. A 210-hp (157 kW) rating was adopted in the Type S 2005 k20Z1 motor with a short-throw six-speed manual transmission.

Estimated Price Range for Used Acura RSX: $5500 – $ $12,500

Used Acura SLX

Acura SLX 150

The SLX, a mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV), was manufactured and marketed by the Acura luxury car division of Honda from 1996 to 1999. It was only sold in the US and came in as a lightly-upgraded Isuzu Trooper. The Acura SLX sales came out poor though. This lackluster market performance was an apparent result of the bad impression left by a “Not Acceptable” rating by the magazine Consumer Report which alleged that the SLX had a tendency to roll over during testing.

Lackluster sales continued despite a court finding in a lawsuit by Isuzu against Consumers Union, the magazine publisher, that some of the publication’s statements showed a “reckless disregard” for the truth. The SLX remained not very popular and sales continued to be confined to the US market. The SUV was not made available in Canada. Eventually, the SLX was replaced in 2001 by the Acura MDX,
