Used GMC Safari

GMC Safari 150

The GMC Safari is General Motor’s version of the Chevrolet Astro. Both are rear-wheel drive minivans launched in 1985 (but an all-wheel drive option was introduced in 1990), and are designed for use as standard passenger vehicles or cargo vans.

The Safari has also been favored by some converters for small conversion vans. Buyers have the option for rear-wheel or all-wheel drive models. These vans come in one body length, could seat up to eight passengers, and are available with a passenger-side sliding door.

Transmission is automatic and the vehicles are equipped with tow/haul mode. With the appropriate equipment, the GMC Safari could pull 5,500 lb (2,500 kg) because of its truck-based power train, the only minivan model to be so designed. Engine choices depend on options and model year, ranging from 145 to 190 hp (108 to 142 kW) 4.3L V6 powerhouses. Standard to all models antilock four-wheel disc brakes.

Estimated Price Range for Used GMC Safari: $1,000-$2,500

Used GMC Savana

GMC Savana 150

General Motors introduced the GMC Savana in 1996 as its entry in the full-size van market along with its counterpart in the GM Chevrolet lineup, the Express. Different only in trim details, both vans are popular as workhorses, used as utility vehicles by electricians, plumbers and other service providers who need to lug along large or bulky equipment.

The Savana likewise works as a passenger vehicle with models that could accommodate from eight to 15 people, making the van a popular choice as a shuttle bus, ambulance or school transport. The sheetmetal of the Savana was updated after 2003, using material similar to that used in the GMT800 SUVs and light trucks.

The vans were also rigged with LS engines. All the passenger vans were equipped with Stabilitrak (stability control) in 2004. Further enhancements in 2008 saw an updated GMC Savana interior, and side impact roof airbags became a standard feature on all passenger models. The E85 Flexfuel Vortec 5.3L V8 engine were mounted for the 2008 work vans and passenger models.

The GMC Sierra 1500 is a light half-ton pickup truck which General Motors introduced in 1998 for the 1999 model year, along with its cousin, the GMT 800 Silverado, in the Chevrolet line.

A number of models comprise the Sierras and the Silverados, with the light-duty trucks given the 1500 designation. There are three available cab lengths for these light-duty trucks: the two-door short cab, the three or four-door extended cab, and the front-hinged four-door crew cab.

In addition, there are three cargo beds to choose from: a 69.2-inch (1757.7 mm) short box, 78.7-inch (1999 mm) standard box, and a 97.6-inch (2479 mm) long box. The short box is exclusively available in the extended or crew cab. The original GMC Sierra 1500 has engine options for Vortec 4300 V6, Vortec 4800 V8 or Vortec 5400 V8. For body design, the only choices were for the regular cab and three-door extended cab. In 2000, a four-door extended cab came as an option, and the 5.3L engine output was increased by 15 hp (11 kW) and 10 lb-ft (14 nM).

The GMC Sierra 3500 is one of the heavy duty versions of the pickup trucks from General Motors. The GMC Sierra series, as well as its cousin Chevrolet Silverado, was actually first marketed in 1999. However, the GMC Sierra 3500 was only made available starting from year 2000 as part of the heavy-duty (HD) versions in the GM’s pickup truck series also composed of the half-ton 1500HD and the three-quarter ton 2500HD.

The one-ton GMC Sierra 3500 sports the same engine as the 2500HD, a Duramax V8 capable of producing power of 360 hp (268 kW). The two variants’ transmissions are also the same, Allison 1000 five-speed (six-speed in the 2006-2007 models) system. However, suspension and axle are stronger in the Sierra 3500. It can tow 16,700 pounds (7,600 kg), compared to the 10,600-pound (4,800 kg) towing capacity of the Sierra 2500HD and the 10,300 pounds (4,700 kg) of the 1500HD.
