Used Hyundai Genesis

Hyundai Genesis 150

Upon first gaze at the 2009 Hyundai Genesis, car aficionados will not deny a second glance. Refined lines, manly looks, and a striking element is that Hyundai removed the stylized H badge on the front chrome grill and let it speak for itself. This luxury car’s maker will only be known when one takes a look at the trunk cover at the rear when the car has just passed by.

The 2009 North American Car of the Year winner features a front engine and rear wheel drive platform. Its affordability in the large sedan category paired with its luxury has been shaking up the car markets. It offers luxury and space rivaling those from America, Europe, and Japan for its price. However, an all-wheel-drive configuration is not present and handling flounders in sharp turns against its competitors.

The Genesis comes in two variants, the 3.8 and the 4.6, rightly named after their engines. The 3.8 liter is a 24-valve DOHC, continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) V6 that gives 290 horsepower at 6,200 RPM. The bigger 4.6 liter is more robust with 32-valve DOHC, CVVT V8 delivering 375 horsepower at 6,500 RPM. The power is delivered by a standard 6-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission with overdrive. The benchmark acceleration of 0 to 60 mph is just at six seconds for both. Fuel mileage is at 18/27 mpg city/highway on the 3.8 and 17/25 mpg for the 4.6.

The powerful engines easily respond to the 4-wheel disc brake with Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), and brake assist. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control System (TCS) help keep the car on the road. Luxury driving experience is belted out by a 5-link front and rear suspension system.

Used Hyundai Tiburon

Hyundai Tiburon 150

The 2008 version of the Hyundai Tiburon looks appealing on the external. However, it is lodged on the bottom half of the subcompact sedan category. The 2-door sporty-looking car has a rather small cabin capacity and cramped rear seating. Its power cannot match that of the leading competition. Still, Hyundai offers value with the car. Its affordability and exterior makes up for a seemingly lack in thrill. Hyundai has stopped production of the Tiburon after 2008.

Estimated Price Range for Used Hyundai Tiburon: $1,800-$16,000

The 2.0 liter is a 4-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC, 138 horsepower at 6,000 RPM engine with continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) found on the base GS. Used Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai Tucson 150

The Hyundai Tucson follows the Hyundai mantra of value. The Korean car company is known for offering car buyers more features for a lower price. The 2009 Tucson is not an exception. It does lag behind the leading competitors in terms of power and performance even with a six-cylinder engine. But it scores very high in safety and crash tests. This 4-door entry in the 2WD and 4WD SUV category comes with 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile drive train warranty.

Estimated Price Range for Used Hyundai Tucson: $5,000-$8,000

The 5-passenger Tucson is available in three trims, the GLS, SE, and Limited variants and comes in either front- or four-wheel drive configurations. Two engines are equipped on this SUV, a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder or a 2.7 liter V6. The 2.0 liter 16-valve produces 140 horsepower at 6,000 RPM while the 2.7 liter 24-valve delivers 173 horsepower at 6,000 RPM. The engine power is translated to speed by a 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive or 4-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission also with overdrive. Both engines, though, continue to disappoint the car aficionado. Power seems lacking, but it is enough for most buyers.

The 5-speed manual transmission is fitted on the 2.0l 4-cylinder GLS 2WD while the 4-speed automatic is configured on the 2.0l 4-cylinder GLS 4WD, 2.7l V6 SE 2WD, 2.0l 4-cylinder Limited 2WD, 2.7l V6 Limited 2WD, 2.7l V6 SE 4WD, and the 2.7l V6 Limited 4WD. Fuel efficiency is achieved at 20/26 mpg city/highway on the 16-valve engine, 18/24 mpg for the 24-valve 2WD, and 18/23 mpg on the 4WD variants.

Used Bentley Arnage

Bentley Arnage 150

Bentley Motors has a line of luxury cars called the Bentley Arnage. The Arnage and its sibling in the Rolls-Royce brand, the Silver Seraph, were unveiled in 1998. The Arnage and the Silver Seraph were Bentley and Rolls-Royce’s first entirely new designs since 1980. The Arnage is produced in the Bentley car factory in Crewe, England. What set the Arnage apart from other Bentley vehicles was that it ran on a BMW V8 engine. The Volkswagen takeover of the Bentley brand in 1998 caused changes to be done to the vehicle, as the BMW engine was not as fuel efficient and did not meet emission standards.

The reverted old model was branded “Arnage Red Label” while a version with Bentley making substantial modifications to the original BMW engine cars was branded as the “Arnage Green Label”. The Green Label came out for the 2000 model year. However, both Red and Green Labels were modified in the areas of leg room (which was expanded), body shells (which became stiffer), wheels (which became larger) and new equipment introduced, for example, integrated satellite navigation. Production of the Arnage will see its last year in 2009. a replacement model, rumored to be dubbed as the “Grand Bentley,” is set to be launched in August 2009.

Estimated Price Range for Used Bentley Arnage: $34,500-$183,777

Used Bentley Azure

Bentley Azure 150

British automaker Bentley Motors Limited premiered a large, four-seater convertible in 1995 called the Bentley Azure. The Azure, as of 2009, is still an active model, being built in Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England. It was originally built in a Bentley Continental platform, and was changed with a Bentley Arnage platform, along with other changes such as an improved engine in 2006. The Azure’s first generation was powered by Bentley’s 6.75 Liter V8, equipped with a Garrett turbocharger.

A “Mulliner” trim was available for the first generation, which featured options for the owner to customize the car during its building process, with customer requests ultimately dictating the car’s price. When Volkswagen purchased Bentley in 1998, VW executives decided to produce the first generation Azures until 2003 and its successor to be debuted at a later year. This year was 2006, with improvements such as a modified engine, as mentioned above, which featured a twin-turbocharger setup. A high performance version of the Azure, named Azure T is set to be released in 2010.

Estimated Price Range for Used Bentley Azure: $30,200-$289,888
Estimated MPG for Used Bentley Azure: 9 City/15 Hwy
