Used Buick Roadmaster

Buick Roadmaster 150

The earliest Buick Roadmaster arrived in the marketplace in 1936. The name was coined to herald the numerous product enhancements Buick has made to its 1935 lineup. The Roadmaster came in sedan, convertible, coupe and and wagon models. By 1955, a four-door hardtop joined the Roadmaster line. With World War II over, Buick forged ahead with its car production. Ultramodern vehicles rolled off the assembly line.

The top speed of the Buick Roadmaster was 161 km/hour. Even in the contemporary era, the 1957 Roadmaster two-door hardtop still commands interest in car shows as a beautiful rare car that looks exquisite when restored to gleaming exhibition quality.

During the 1990s era, Buick introduced a roomy sedan with well-appointed interiors. The reborn Buick Roadmaster was powered by a powerful V-8 engine that produced 170 horsepower. The vehicle played an important role in Buick’s glorious past, even if the materials and build quality left much to be desired. Nonetheless, the car gained a following, and marked its demise in 1996.

Used Buick Skylark

Buick Skylark 150

Back in 1965 when competition was heating up among prestigious auto makers, Buick’s muscle car took the form of the Skylark, which was powered by a401 cu.in. V-8 engine. The Skylark later offered the V-6 option. The earlier 1953 model in flaming red was the type that you’d see in most old movies. Skylark versions back then had a wraparound windscreen and plenty of chrome trim. The vehicle had a front-mounted V-8 engine; powered convertible fabric roof; power steering, brakes & windows; and 40-spoke chrome wire wheels. The vehicle was on the pricey side, which affected sales.

Fast forward to 1996. Buick by this time had churned out several Skylark models: Custom, Limited, and Gran Sport 2-door coupes and 4-door sedans, and the Olympic Gold 4-door sedan. Skylark undergoes a transformation inside out, with all models incorporating modern safety features including dual airbags and anti-lock brake system (ABS). The Skylark 1996 model year took on a more conventional-looking grille.and faded from the scene in the next couple of years, with Buick buyers gravitation towards the mid-sized Century.

Used Mercury Capri

Mercury Capri 150

The name Mercury Capri is a brand that has been used by the Ford Motor Company over its long history. The Capri line of cars is associated with Lincoln-Mercury division of Ford in North America. Starting in the 1950s, the Capri has been produced, giving homage to the island of Capri in Italy. In the European market, the Capri is known as the “Ford Capri”, having 2 doors and a trunklid that is classified as “short” and was later redesigned as a hatchback in 1975. All Capris were manufactured in the Ford plant in Cologne, Germany, whether it was the North American or European versions. The European version was later made available in the U.S. in 1970.

Aesthetic changes were made to the Capri in 1973. The car’s interiors, grille, tail lights, and wiring harness were redesigned. In 1979, the Ford Mustang was also branded as the Mercury Capri, having a Fox chassis. This marked the start of the second generation Mercury Capri. Throughout its second generation, until 1986, no major changes happened to the Capri. An addition of a “bubble back”, or a hatchback coupled with a compound window on the rear, with new taillights and a redesigned rear bumper were the only changes, happening in 1983. A front air dam was added to the high performance model of Capri in 1984. These modifications continued until the Mercury Capri was discontinued in 1986.

The Mercury Capri had resurgence in Australia from 1989 to 1994. To rival the Mazda Miata, Ford Australia produced a Ford Capri. This model was imported to North America and sold as the Mercury Capri. A minor change that was made for the North American version was a redesign of the cabin. This was done in order to have space for an airbag, a standard safety feature for American vehicles, which was not yet standard in Australia.

From the years 1960 until 1977, the Ford Motor Company’s Mercury division manufactured the Mercury Comet. In its 17 year history, the Comet was actually discontinued for a year, in the 1970 model year. It has also been reclassified from being a compact to an intermediate-sized vehicle, thanks to several changes and its design and Ford’s marketing strategy. From being a descendant of the Ford Falcon, the Mercury Comet received upgraded trim details in its interior, with a longer wheelbase. The Comet shared a platform and a basic shape, often referred to as the “round body” with the Ford Falcon.

The Comet was initially introduced in four body styles coupes with 2 doors, 4-door sedans, and station wagons with either 2 or 4 doors. As for trim levels, there were two the basic Standard trim and the Custom trim with added chrome trim, interiors in vinyl, and badging. The 144 cid Thriftpower straight six engine with a single-barrel Holley carburetor was the only available engine for the Mercury Comet.

After four generations, Ford stopped producing the Mercury Comet in 1975. Originally it was planned that the Comet, along with its cousin Ford Maverick, will just undergo major changes in its models. Later, it was decided that Mercury would rebrand these redesigned models to the Mercury Monarch and Ford Granada, respectively. Eventually, the “Sports Accents” edition of the Comet was still available until 1977. The Comet was eventually replaced by the Mercury Zephyr for the model year of 1978.

Used Mercury Cougar

Mercury Cougar 150

In the history of the Ford Motor Company’s Lincoln-Mercury Division, there have been a number of diverse vehicles branded as the Mercury Cougar. As with all vehicles of the Mercury line, the Cougar has a “cousin” or a car in the Ford line that it shares a platform with. With the Cougar, it was the Ford Mustang. In the later generations, though, it became the Thunderbird. The last generation of Mercury Cougars shared the same platform with the Ford Contour. More than anything, the Mercury Cougar became a trendy marketing object for Ford, as the public’s attention was captivated by ads of models holding big, leashed felines.

Two Ford plants assembled the Cougar, the Dearborn Assembly plant in Michigan from the first year it was introduced until 1973, and the Lorain Assembly Plant from 1974 until the brand’s end in 1997. More than 437,000 Cougars were produced for its first generation. For its second generation, the Cougar’s style was changed and had a longer wheelbase. When the third generation Cougar was released in 1974, it was marketed as a personal luxury car. A 20th anniversary edition Cougar was produced in 1987 with special items such as an exterior in cabernet red, midnight smoke moldings, Mustang BT wheels, and even a book detailing the Cougar’s history.

The Cougar was affected by Ford’s restructuring plan in 2002. Along with other Ford lines, the Cougar was decided to be discontinued. Unfortunately, the last generation of Cougars, which was aimed at the youth market, was also plagued with problems with its brakes and engine design, among others.
