Used Plymouth Voyager

Plymouth Voyager 150

When Plymouth Voyager was introduced to the public it practically captured the magic of station wagons. However, it even surpassed the latter in terms of capacity and ride quality. Basically, it was a minivan patterned from the famous K-cars, and like the latter it had helped Chrysler Company pushed through with its Plymouth car division.

The first set of Plymouth Voyager was an identical version of the Dodge Sportman, specifically of its capacity to fill-in 12-15 passengers. The only flaw associated with this rebadged car was its poor aerodynamics. But it was solved entirely for its 1990 version as it became more aerodynamic in shape where all models got sliding door on each passenger side. An additional one-piece lift gate made it more identical with the Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country, though Plymouth Voyager remained the standard when it came to minivans.

Used Pontiac Bonneville

Pontiac Bonneville 150

The Pontiac division of General Motors produced the Pontiac Bonneville since 1957. The last of the Bonnevilles were manufactured in 2005. For its first release in 1957, the car was marketed as a performance vehicle in a limited production. However, its popularity continued until much later. It also holds the distinction of being one of the largest sized Pontiacs built, with its body of its station wagon model measuring 5.8 meters long. When the Pontiac Grand Ville, a car that it shared a platform with, was discontinued in 1975, the Bonneville became Pontiac’s sole top-line full-sized car. In 1976, the car, still then known as the Bonneville Brougham, featured some interior designs that were reminiscent of the Grand Ville as a sort of tribute to the discontinued line.

The Bonneville was downsized in 1971 onwards, from its engine to its length even, in response to the energy crisis of the 1970s. In 1981, the Bonneville was rebranded in the Canadian market, as it was then known as the Parisienne until that year. In 2005, General Motors announced that it would stop producing Bonnevilles for 2006.

Used Pontiac Catalina

Pontiac Catalina 150

The Pontiac Catalina was manufactured by the Pontiac division of General Motors as part of their line of full-sized vehicles. It was initially used in branding as a sign to buyers that a car has a hardtop body, for example in Chieftain Eight and DeLuxe Eight Catalinas in 1950. Nine years later, Catalina became its own model, mainly considered as a buyer’s introduction to Pontiac’s full-sized models. The door and window areas of a Catalina were smaller and yet, the roof fixed and turns into a convertible, giving it an airy and sporty look without the disadvantages of a usual convertible. The Catalina, along with the Bonneville, was the only line of Pontiac hardtops until 1958.

The last models of the Catalina came out in 1981, leaving the Bonneville as the only Pontiac full-sized car. This was due to GM’s efforts to downsize its vehicles and leave the full-sized car specialty altogether. All in all, close to 3.9 million Catalinas were sold in its 22 year history.

Estimated Price Range for Used Pontiac Catalina: $2,900-$35,000

Used Pontiac Fiero

Pontiac Fiero 150

The Pontiac Fiero was designed by renowned car engineer Hulki Aldikacti as a mid-engine sports car for General Motor’s Pontiac. The line only appeared for five years, from 1984 to 1988. Since the coupes were manufactured from 1926 to 1938, this was the second time Pontiac ventured into manufacturing two-seaters. Also, the Fiero was the only mid-engine sports car by an American car manufacturer during that time. The energy crisis of the 1970s made General Motors consider manufacturing a car that is efficient in fuel even after giving up its Corvette line. Thus, the Fiero had a 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine running it. Automatic, four-speed, and five-speed manual transmissions were available with the Fiero.

Estimated Price Range for Used Pontiac Fiero: $2,500-$4,500

The line had its share of problems that added to the Fiero’s notoriety. Several owners complained of engine fires, while others raised issues with the car’s cooling system. The manufacturing of the Fiero ended when official internal GM forecasts predicted insufficient profits of the line in the future because of a decrease in the demand for two-seater cars. Despite that, until its last year, the Fiero still made profit for GM, with units sold actually numbering twice the predicted number.

Used Pontiac Firebird

Pontiac Firebird 150

The first Pontiac Firebird manufactured by General Motor’s Pontiac division came out in 1967, the same year GM also released the Chevrolet Camaro with which it shares a platform. This was countered by Ford who released two cars that share the same platform, the Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang in the same year. Firebirds ran on Pontiac engines until 1977, when it was changed to engines made by other GM divisions. This went on until the last of the Firebirds came out in 2002.

The third and fourth generation Firebirds featured an aerodynamic design. However, sales were already declining. Yet, the production process for the car was very speedy. The line’s popularity reached its peak in the 1970s, when it was used in the film Smokey and the Bandit. A second generation of Firebird TransAms was manufactured by Year One Muscle Cars and Burt Reynolds, the movie’s lead actor, to commemorate the movie’s 30th anniversary. General Motors has no plans to revive the Firebird despite reviving its cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro, for 2010. This is because the Pontiac brand will be discontinued after 2010.
