Used Plymouth Barracuda

Plymouth Barracuda 150

Attesting to the US automotive trends in the early-mid 60’s, the Chrysler Company produced its own set of sports compact cars by means of Plymouth Barracuda. It was a two-door car that significantly made used of the Valiant 106 and Valiant hood in its major body parts, such as headlamp bezels, windshield, vent windows, quarter panels and bumpers.

Plymouth Barracuda lasted for a decade in the car industry. And in that ten-year stint, it had managed to successfully reinvent to meet car enthusiasts demands. In its first generation, 1964-1967, its structure is enormously based on Plymouth Valiant with a prominent wraparound back glass.

While in the year 1967-1969, the second generation, it showcased a heavily designed Plymouth Barracuda that is emphasized by its three body styles, namely fastback, notchback, and convertible. And in its third generation, this set of car is no longer redesigned based on Valiant. Hence, it became an all-new model automobile that rather resembles Chrysler version of E-body.

Used Plymouth Duster

Plymouth Duster 150

Plymouth Duster huge success was principally attributed to its strong sporty flavor. Indeed, it surpasses its predecessors that are styled based on Valiant in terms of the contribution it made to stretch the automotive landscape of the 1970’s. It used the same sheet metal and drive train as Valiant, however in mid-section to the rear Plymouth Duster got an original touch of style that often gives a manly impression. The interior is also purely Valiant where both shares the same dashboard, seats and door panels.

It was commonly known as the automobile with dual personality since it can render an impression of good taste and sometimes as fearsome automobile with large engines. Likewise, it could be filled with high-winding small-block V8, or with a meek six cylinder engine.

Plymouth Duster became a favorite choice of car muscle drivers because of two reasons: affordability and it was the performance version of Plymouth’s series of reinvention to achieve a sporty-type of car that could put any muscle car to shame.

Used Plymouth Fury

Plymouth Fury 150

Plymouth Fury was determinedly created for brand positioning purposes. Its manufacturer’s aims to make a statement with this particular car model where it would be the talk of the town and hopefully would help boost the sale. Fortunately it did make a bang, particularly to the law enforcing officers like the policemen.

Plymouth Fury had built a relative connection with the policemen because of The French Connection movie where a detective was able to haunt down a bandit with his Plymouth Fury. But more than that, police department prefer this car model because of its low price and efficiency. However, in reality it was never classified as sport car until Sport Fury came into being.

The mistakes committed by a novelist about Plymouth Fury did have a major contribution in helping its manufacturer’s create a halo effect. However, it would be unfair to solely attribute its success to flawed writing.

Used Plymouth Grand Voyager

Plymouth Grand Voyager 150

Plymouth Grand Voyager is a minivan with extended wheelbase length. Hence, its spacious interior is advantageous in accommodating many passengers, amnesties, cargos, and other equipment.

It was introduced by Chrysler Corporation in 1998 together with Chrysler Town & Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan that are all based on Chrysler S-body platform. Among the three units, Plymouth Grand Voyager is the most affordable but it did not last longer compared to other two that still exist today.

This was not considered a new concept in Plymouth’s line of entry-level cars since it was package nearly the same as the first Voyager, only that the latter was shorter. Also, Plymouth Grand Voyager used different engine to compensate its heavy weight. Driving this car was seldom economical because a heavy car like this consumes more engine power, hence it would need more fuel to drive it and often you would have to pay extra cash in parking a lengthy car like this.

Used Plymouth GTX

Plymouth GTX 150

Chrysler Company had never come out an exceptional blend of style and performance until it launched the Plymouth GTX. It was introduced in 1967 as the classy two-door Belvedere hardtop and convertible, but Plymouth GTX was noted for its special grille and rear fascia, chrome gas cap, and simulated hood scoops.

To back up its performance image, Plymouth created the mighty firepower Super Commando 440 with a standard rate of 375 bhp. This engine was particularly used in big cars but for this unit it was fine tuned together with camshaft and valve train, and free-flowing intake and exhaust systems to ensure optimum performance.

A year after, Plymouth GTX was given major transformation where its box like body was changed into a glass hour shape, and it settled with the TorqueFlite automatic transmission as the standard engine. In 1971 it came out with rounded fenders and a loop bumper front and rear.

Estimated Price Range for Used Plymouth GTX: $25,000-$58,000
