Avid fans of the Trans-Am car racing series will be most familiar with the Chevrolet Camaro which had a string of titles in this competition during the late 1960s and in the 1990s.

The Camaro has also figured prominently in the Australia Touring Car Championship and the International Race of Champions, aside from being a favorite of drag racers and hotrod racers. Its sibling in the GM stable is the Pontiac Firebird with which the Camaro shares its platform and major components. All generations were powered by variations of the V8 engine, except the third generation which sported straight-6 and V6 motors. In terms of body style, the second-generation Chevrolet Caprice offered the most choices: hardtop and coupe in either two-door or four-door variants, four-door station wagon, and two-door convertible. The fourth-generation Caprice iterations include among its ranks a police package variant which was a favorite in particular by men in uniform in Michigan who were convinced of the superiority of this Chevy in terms of speed and acceleration.

Used Chevrolet Cavalier

Chevrolet Cavalier 150

The Chevrolet Cavalier was General Motors’ entry in the compact car market segment from 1982 to 1985 during which it became one of the best selling automobiles in the US. The Cavalier was built on GM’s J platform, an inexpensive front-wheel drive design that General Motors used in its cars during the 1980–1990 period.

There are three generations of Cavaliers, with the first having options for two 4-cylinder pushrod engines, and two- and four-door sedan, hatchback and station wagon body styles. Fresh styling and modified V6 engines were incorporated in the second-generation Chevrolet Cavaliers.

The two-door sedan and hatchback bodies were abandoned for the coupe, but other body styles remained. A redesign in the Chevrolet Cavalier third generation saw all models with four-cylinder engines, expanded dimensions and a styling that departed markedly from the boxier designs of the earlier generations. The wagon gave way to the return of the coupe, sedan and convertible body styles.

Toyota, under an agreement with General Motors, briefly sold the third-generation Cavalier in Japan as part of the Japanese company’s efforts to avoid US export restrictions. These Toyota Cavaliers were of right hand drive design and sported wider front fenders, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, among other upgrades.

The Chevrolet C/K is a family of full-size pickup trucks that General Motors manufactured from 1960 to 1998. The initials “C/K” stand for the powertrain options in the pickup truck line, with the “C” representing two-wheel drive variants and “K” signifying those with four-wheel drive.

The Chevrolet C/K in its various iterations was known in the market as the GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Cheyenne, Chevrolet Scottsdale, GMC Sierra Classic, GMC High Sierra and Chevrolet Custom Deluxe. Many important innovations went into the introduction of the Chevrolet C/K in 1960, including an independent front suspension that mimics a car ride in a truck and a drop center ladder that allowed a lower cab.
