Used Nissan Altima

Nissan Altima 150

The Nissan Altima, originally a compact car, is now branded as a mid-size car. The Altima is said to be a continuation of the historic line of the Nissan Bluebird, which was produced as early as 1957.

Historically though, the Altima was the replacement of the less successful Nissan Stanza, in 1992. Compared to other popular models manufactured by Nissan, the Nissan Sentra is less luxurious and powerful compared to it, while the Nissan Maxima has more luxurious features and is more powerful compared to it.

High demand of the Altima has forced the production of the model to be done in two Nissan production plants – in Smyrna, Tennessee and, since 2004, in Canton, Mississippi. An environmentally-friendly and more fuel efficient Hybrid model of the Altima has been produced as well since 2007 when Nissan agreed to use hybrid car technology because of its rival Toyota.

The Altima Hybrid Electric has been the car of choice of the New York City Police Department, and is only available in limited areas of the United States and Canada, including New Jersey, New York, California, and New England. The agreement between rivals Nissan and Toyota stipulated that all succeeding models of the hybrid will have technology developed in Nissan’s in-house research and development facilities.
