The Infiniti EX was introduced in North American auto market for the 2008 model year. It is an all-wheel drive liftback, although many consider it a crossover sports utility vehicle (SUV). The EX35 nameplate is a reference to the SUV’s engine–the fourth-generation 3.5-litre, 24-valve V6 VQ35HR gasoline engine with dual overhead cam, 297 hp and 253 ft•lbf (343 N•m) of torque.
Other vehicle features include ladder frame construction, variable exhaust cam timing (eCVTCS), twin knock sensors, aluminum-alloy block and heads, electronically controlled drive-by-wire throttle system, asymmetric piston skirts, and microfinished crank journals and cam lobes. The Infiniti EX, also known as Nissan Skyline Crossover in Japan, likewise come equipped with low-friction molybdenum-coated pistons that uses continuous variable valve timing. Complementing this feature is an electronically controlled super-wide ratio five-speed automatic transmission. This system has a manual shift mode with the option of Downshift Rev Matching (DRM) and sequentially selected manual gearshifts.
