For more than 50 years, the Chrysler New Yorker had graced the automotive industry and had established Chrysler as a manufacturer of high-end models at reasonable prices. It had also been the flagship Chrysler model for several years. The New Yorker is an elegant yet affordable sedan that competes well with luxury cars from other brands.
Originally, the vehicle was launched as a member of the 1938 Chrysler Imperial sub-series. Because the New Yorker was immensely popular at that time, it was later introduced as a separate Chrysler model. Compared to its older brother Imperial, the New Yorker is smaller and has a simpler exterior and interior styling. The early New Yorker models were available as a sedan or a two-door coupe that provided considerable space and comfort for passengers. On the other hand, the last generation of the New Yorker is a front-wheel drive that comes standard with a 3.5-liter EGJ engine rated for 214 horsepower.
