What’s there not to like about Cadillac? The brand alone is synonymous to luxury—for more than a century, Cadillac has specialized in using standardized auto parts and precise craftsmanship in manufacturing its vehicles. Cadillac, which is owned by giant automaker General Motors, enjoys the highest status in the domestic luxury vehicle market in the United States.

Founded in 1902, Cadillac was the brainchild of Henry Martyn Leland who was involved with auto parts manufacturing at that time. Cadillac got its name from a known French voyager who discovered Detroit in the 18th century. The very first model is the Cadillac Osceola, the first closed-body vehicle in the U.S. automotive industry. One of Osceola’s creators was Leland himself.

Throughout its history, Cadillac holds the distinction of producing comfortable sedans for the older consumers. But Cadillac has not stopped in expanding its horizon. In the past few years, the company has reached the younger market by including in its lineup other types of vehicles like trucks, SUVS, and two-passenger convertibles.
