High performance is the hallmark of the BMW M6 which belongs among the later versions of the 6-Series car models introduced by the German automaker in 1976. The M6 has the reputation of being one of the 10 fastest cars in America, an accolade bestowed by the Road and Track magazine in 1987. The current 2009 BMW M6 can reach from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in a whopping 4.6 seconds.
Behind this exhilarating performance is the catalyzed S38 motor in US-sold models capable of producing 256 hp (191 kW) and torque of 243 ft-lbf (329 N-m). The car which belongs to the E24 variants of the BMW 6-series could be distinguished from its cousins by its “M” emblems on the back and grille, slightly bigger front brakes and larger air dams. Other outstanding BMW M6 features include luxurious interiors and an aggressive but elegant shark-nose design.
