Used Bentley

In 1919, Walter Owen Bentley and his brother H.M. Bentley founded Bentley Motors Limited. This British manufacturer of automobiles started out as a seller of French DFP cars. The first cars that W.O Bentley himself manufactured were ready by 1921. He seeks the help of millionaires to fund his company, making Woolf Barnato the effective owner of the company. The Great Depression of the 1930s caused Barnato and his business partners to sell the company to Rolls-Royce in 1931.

Bentley cars became more affordable versions of their Rolls-Royce counterparts, but sales steeply declined in the 1970s to 1980s, and Rolls-Royce, with the Bentley brand, was sold to another British company, Vickers, in 1980. Interest in the Bentley increased as Bentley became a separate line marketed for its high performance cars. Another sale happened in 1998, when Rolls-Royce and Bentley were bought by Germany’s Volkswagen Group. Bentleys is still making news currently, with a Bentley given to Queen Elizabeth II as her official State Limousine in 2002.
