Performance

This Acura gets 17 mpg in the city, 24 on the highway and 20 combined. The steering system includes a unique wheel that provides precise responses while driving. The suspension system reduces shock to make for a firmer ride that is also more responsive.

Exterior

HID headlights come standard to cast a brighter light for drivers to see more clearly. While the light is brighter it doesn’t appear bothersome to other drivers on the road. The wireless key remote opens the car, moon roof, and trunk. There are large 18-inch alloy wheels that provide a smooth ride and reliable performance. The moon roof offers a bit more sunlight and air for days when the weather is nice. It can also be blocked off when the sun is creating glare.

Interior

The RL has soft seats that feel indulgent and supportive for all passengers. There are two different heating options that both the driver and passenger can use. Keyless start also comes standard with this vehicle. Integrated sunshades can be opened or closed by the driver when the sun is creating too much of a glare.

There is also an automatic climate control that can be individually set by the driver and passenger. A BOSE surround sound system comes standard along with voice recognition for the driver to use. There are USB drives, iPod plug-ins and CD drives available for all forms of entertainment.

Safety & Reliability

The airbag system comes with two front, two side and two side curtain airbags. The sensors on these determine how much and where the airbags inflate. The child safety features protect the child in every way possible, including with the airbags in the car. The anti-lock braking system will help the driver retain control of the vehicle while still allowing them to stop. The standard security system is included with an alarm system that will also disable the ignition when a break-in happens.

Pros

  • All-wheel drive come standard, which means you, can get around in any driving condition.
  • The reliability of this brand is well known and trusted.
  • The interior looks nice in the standard version without having to purchase a separate package.

Cons

  • Drivers who appreciate a V8 do not have this option available.
  • The backseat doesn’t offer a lot of leg room for adults.
  • The cargo space isn’t very roomy for some passengers.

The exterior doesn’t have very high ratings for the design. The style of it is a little dated for some drivers who like cars that are sportier.

This is one of the more affordable vehicles in its class, especially when compared to the Infiniti M. It has a lot of features that make it seem expensive without the high price tag. There are packages available, although some of them are not necessary.

Competition

The Luxury Sedan segment provides many choices in addition to the Acura RL, among them are the Mercedes Benz E350 (MSRP $50,490; 20 city / 30 hwy), the BMW 535i (MSRP $52,500; 19 city / 29 hwy), and the Lexus GS350 (MSRP $49,450; 19 city / 26 hwy).

Overall Rating
