Bernt Schneider

Race driver Bernt Schneider is closely involved with the project and will personally sign a certificate of exclusivity on each car. Schneider won the DTM championship five times and was world champion in FIA GT racing in 1995 before joining Mercedes-AMG where he works as an instructor, test driver and an ambassador for the Mercedes-AMG brand.

Each buyer will take delivery of his or her 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary car at Affalterbach, and will receive personal instruction in the car from Schneider himself. The five new owners will be provided with driver training at AMG’s driving academy.

Even though these cars cost over half a million dollars, the chance to own such a prestigious vehicle and receive tutoring from such an iconic figure is bound to attract a lot of interest.

Seating

The car is built for the racetrack rather than the road, but Mercedes-AMG has added a passenger seat to the anniversary model. Apart from that, the interior is designed for racing functionality rather than a luxury driving experience. Both the steering wheel and the six point safety harnesses have silver trims. Each car’s serial number is shown on badges affixed to the seat backs and the central console.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary car utilized a new painting technology that the company refers to as “magno graphite.” This is used extensively on the car’s body, and also on the rollover safety cage and the wheels.

Graphics displaying the 45th anniversary message are displayed on the doors. The graphics are not painted on. Instead, the underlying carbon fiber used to build it follows the contour of the message.
