Throughout its long history, Lotus has been known for its lightweight sports cars that have made it stand out both on the road and on the track. With legends such as the Elan, the Europa, and the Esprit under its belt, it continues to impress and capture the imagination of automotive fans everywhere. Nowadays, the cars carrying the fight for Lotus include the Elise, the Evora and the Exige.
The Lotus Exige, known as the hardtop version of the Elise, is best known for its track ready nature. This car is lauded for being a dynamic performer because of its light weight, proper balance and superior aerodynamics. However, as critically acclaimed as this car is, there will always come a time that this generation of the Exige is coming to an end. So to mark the end of production of the Exige, a limited edition model was released in North America. It is called the 2012 Lotus Exige Matte Black Edition.
This is no ordinary Lotus. Just about everything that can be poured out into this car has been done. A modified engine with an output of 257 horsepower, black Alcantara sports seats, a lot of standard equipment, and of course, an exclusive matte black paint job are just some of the modifications. It is an Exige that stands out among other Exiges. It is bound to be a very exclusive car (and potential collector’s item) too. Only 25 of these Matte Black Edition models would be built and each with its own exclusive numbered plate.
