Ford launched the all-new EcoSport at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo. Fords growth strategy is to focus increasingly more on the emerging markets and the launch of the compact SUV in India Auto Show reflects the same. Ford EcoSport will strengthen Ford’s product portfolio in India as well in many other markets across the world.

With EcoSport, Ford is focusing on the growing demand for fuel efficient and practical SUVs, especially in emerging markets where low price point could see significant volumes for the EcoSport.

Engine Specifications

The Ford EcoSport would be powered by a rather small 1ltr Turbocharged Direct Injection (GDI) 3 Cylinder Petrol Engine. However, the small engine size doesn’t deter the engine from producing high power and torque.

The engine is said to deliver a respectable 120hp of power with a peak torque of 170Nm, which is quite astonishing for the engine of that size. The engine is also low on fuel consumption. The company also plans to use 1.5 ltr Duratorq Diesel engine from the new Fiesta.

Features

Ford EcoSport will come equipped with safety features like ABS, EBD and Airbags. The compact SUV will offer standard features like AC, integrated audio system with steering mounted controls, alloy wheels etc. Features of the vehicle would vary across the markets where the vehicle is launched and the details would be clearer at the time of the commercial launch.
