2014 Dodge Challenger

The 2014 Dodge Challenger is perhaps America’s favorite retro muscle car. While being outsold by the Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang, those vehicles don’t compare when harking back to the era of the 1970’s when the Challenger and Charger ruled the road.

Several trim lines are offered in 2014 from the base model SXT Coupe to the SRT8 392.

Engine & Performance

Under the hood, you will find a 3.6 liter, V6 engine that gives out 305 horsepower with 268 pounds-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a 5 speed automatic transmission. Even with this engine, the Challenger will move from 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds.

One of popular options to the Challenger is the 5.7 liter V8 which generates 372 horsepower to go with a 5 speed auto transmission, or 375 horsepower with the manual transmission.

The Challenger has a new option package available in 2014 known as the “Super Sport Group”. The option adds performance amenities such as all season tires, a higher final drive ratio increasing its acceleration capabilities and an upgrade on the brakes and suspension.

Also included in the bundle are 20 inch chrome wheels or black if you prefer a more intimidating appearance.

Exterior

The 2014 Challenger comes with 18 inch aluminum rims. The car is color coordinated with the front and rear bumpers, mirrors and even the door handles being of the same hue.

The rear end predominantly features chrome exhaust tips admired by drivers who you may just zip past on the highway. Exterior options include high intensity headlights, fog lamps and a sunroof.

Interior

The highlight of the new Challenger’s interior is the pistol grip shifter. This gives you an uncanny sense of total control.

Cloth upholstery is standard, but leather is available. The driver seat is power-adjustable, heated front seats is an option you can go with. Bench seats in the rear are configurable by employing the fold down 60/40 split feature that then provides armrests and cup holders.

The CD stereo comes with a MP3 jack, but you may opt for a touch screen stereo audio system with a 30GB hard drive for an additional cost. Another display screen option is a navigation system.
