Engine & Performance

The new Chevrolet Camaro is not intended to compete is any particular race series. It’s specifically focused on track capability. In the initial testing, the Camaro Z/28 was 3 seconds faster per lap than the Camaro ZL1. This extra speed comes from increased grip and reduced curb weight.

You can choose between 3 engines; the 3.6 liter V6 that produces 323 horsepower and 278 lb-ft torque or the 6.2 liter V8 that produces 426 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. If you love power, you may opt for the supercharged 6.2 liter Camaro ZL1 that produces 580 horsepower.

Exterior

The new Camaro features a revised exterior design that integrates high-performance aerodynamics for much more efficient cooling plus stability at high speeds. The front has a slimmer and more refined grille with a larger lower fascia and new fog lights.

At the rear, the new taillights that have taken styling cues from the original first generation model. The RS appearance package now includes LEDs in both the headlights and the taillights.

Interior

The interior of the new Z/28 features distinctive trims and matte-metallic finish called Octane. The ZL1 has a flat-bottomed steering wheel and standard Recaro seats with microfiber suede inserts.

To reduce weight, the front passenger seats incorporate manual adjustments. Air conditioning is available as an option. The rear seats of the Z/28 have also been improved for weight reduction.

About 9 pounds has been saved by eliminating the seat-back pass through and using high-density foam instead of the rigid structure of the seat back.
