2014 Audi A3 Cabriolet

The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show is where the 2014 Audi A3 Cabriolet was recently introduced.

This fourth variant of the A3 is much lighter and bigger than its predecessors.

The compact four-seater is attractive, efficient, and comes with a soft top and enough power to make those sharp curves.

Engine & Performance

The new A3 Cabriolet comes with options of three engines that include a 2.0 liter diesel engine that produces 150 horsepower; a 1.4 liter TFSI petrol engine generating 140 horsepower and a 1.8 liter TFSI petrol engine that produces 180 horsepower.

Audi plans to introduce more engine options in the future, including a V6 300 horsepower engine that will be available in the S3. All the three engines mentioned promote improved efficiency and performance figures over the previous models. The

1.4 liter petrol engine is frugal and gives you a fuel efficient of 47 mpg, a respectable figure.

Exterior

The A3 Cabriolet has increased in length and width by a little over seven inches (180mm) and under an inch (20mm), respectively. Yet the overall body weight has come down by 110 lbs (50 kgs), thanks to the use of lighter material. The height of the car has been reduced by .59 inches (15mm), which adds to streamed look.

The front of the A3 has a characteristic single-frame radiator grille. The new A3 has optional LED headlamps. The rear overhang gives balanced proportions to this 2 door “convertible”. The A3 Cabriolet comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, which you can to upgrade to 19-inch wheels.

This A3 comes with a fully automatic soft-top stretched over a light weight kinematic mechanism built from magnesium steel. The soft-top opens or closes through electro-hydraulic mechanism in 18 seconds.

Interior

Elegant lines and clean surfaces define the interior design theme for A3 Cabriolet. The central console is lean and low with the two large round air vents that give it a distinctive look.

The interior is minimalistic, yet elegant combined with the workmanship considered top-notch, as evidenced by all other products from Audi. The controls are simple and intuitive. This four seat Cabriolet has ample space, even for the rear passengers.

The Audi A3 Cabriolet is slated for launch early next year. The new A3 Cabriolet will be produced in Audi’s Hungary plant. The base model is priced at 31,700 Euros.
