Used Chrysler Imperial

Chrysler Imperial 150

True to its name, the Chrysler Imperial held the highest placed car in Chrysler’s line of luxury models. For most of Chrysler’s existence in the automotive industry, the Imperial has enjoyed the distinction of being the automaker’s top-of-the-line model. Launched in 1926, Imperial was touted to beat competitors in the luxury car arena.

Since 1931 until 1993, Imperial has undergone numerous changes particularly in its design, engine, and safety features. Existing Imperial vehicles come in a variety of body styles such as five-passenger sedan, two and four-passenger roadster, seven-passenger limousine, and four seater coupe.

The Imperial is equipped with an engine that’s a bit bigger than the standard size used by the automaker. A 3.3-liter or 3.8-liter V6 engine powers the vehicle. Standard features include four-speed automatic transmission, cassette player, and vinyl roof. Safety features such as cruise control, ABS brakes, and driver-side airbag also come standard in every Imperial. Like some of Chrysler’s models, the Imperial is also equipped with hidden headlights located behind foldable covers.

Used Chrysler LeBaron

Chrysler LeBaron 150

The Chrysler LeBaron debuted in 1977 and became the lowest-priced Chrysler model. The model name, which came from a 1930s coachworks purchased by Chrysler, had been previously used for Imperial vehicles.

Ten years since its launch, LeBaron had undergone major changes, including a V6 option for engines in 1990. In the same year, the vehicle was equipped with an optional electronic variable damped suspension that allowed change in shock absorber damping. Chrysler used variable nozzle technology to create a quicker response for LeBaron’s 2.2-liter turbo IV engine. The exterior of the LeBaron was redesigned in 1993. For instance, the hidden headlights of the 1987 to 1992 models were replaced by lower-priced headlights.

Aside from the coupes and convertibles, the Chrysler LeBaron also has a six-passenger sedan version, which is also powered by V6 engine. It comes standard with a driver-side airbag. The sedan’s suspension system features anti-sway bars at the front and rear areas and front gas-charged struts.

Estimated Price Range for Used Chrysler LeBaron: $500-$6,800
Estimated MPG for Chrysler LeBaron: 18 City/26 Hwy

Used Chrysler LHS

Chrysler LHS 150

Impressive elegance and powerful performance—these qualities made Chrysler LHS the flagship model in Chrysler’s range from 1994 to 2001. The LHS replaced the Chrysler Imperial as the biggest and most elegant vehicle in Chrysler’s lineup. Displaying a strong presence on the road, the LHS was offered as the less costly alternative to other luxury cars of its class. The LHS has been regarded by many motoring journalists and auto enthusiasts as a vehicle that surpasses global standards of quality.

The first-generation LHS cars feature a combination of American luxury and performance, making them comparable to high-end European cars. In particular, the Chrysler LHS has the look and feel of a German car. This is quite interesting because LHS was released a few years before the merger of Chrysler and the German automaker Daimler AG.

Today, the LHS is a full-size, front-wheel drive powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine. Its engine was carefully crafted for a smooth and quiet operation. Its lowered weight and reduced aerodynamic drag ensure fuel efficiency.

Estimated Price Range for Used Chrysler LHS: $500-$8,700

Used Chrysler New Yorker

Chrysler New Yorker 150

For more than 50 years, the Chrysler New Yorker had graced the automotive industry and had established Chrysler as a manufacturer of high-end models at reasonable prices. It had also been the flagship Chrysler model for several years. The New Yorker is an elegant yet affordable sedan that competes well with luxury cars from other brands.

Originally, the vehicle was launched as a member of the 1938 Chrysler Imperial sub-series. Because the New Yorker was immensely popular at that time, it was later introduced as a separate Chrysler model. Compared to its older brother Imperial, the New Yorker is smaller and has a simpler exterior and interior styling. The early New Yorker models were available as a sedan or a two-door coupe that provided considerable space and comfort for passengers. On the other hand, the last generation of the New Yorker is a front-wheel drive that comes standard with a 3.5-liter EGJ engine rated for 214 horsepower.

Estimated Price Range for Used Chrysler New Yorker: $1,000-$10,000

Used Chrysler Newport

Chrysler Newport 150

The Chrysler Newport was born in 1940 when it was used as a concept car, which carried the popular name Newport Phaeton. But many auto aficionados consider the Newport as a full-size entry-level vehicle from 1961 to 1981. Its design was inspired by the more upscale Chrysler New Yorker, which was Chrysler’s flagship model at that time. The Newport shot to fame in the 1940s when Walter Chrysler, the founder of the Chrysler company, owned one as his personal car. Also, the Newport was chosen as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 race in 1941.

The last generation of Newport cars was released during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The latest models are smaller, lighter, and more fuel efficient than their predecessors. The Newport is a four to five-seater, rear-wheel drive sedan with a 122-inch wheelbase. Its engine is a 5.9-liter OHV V8 that produces 265 horsepower and 380 ft-lb torque. It also has a three-speed automatic transmission.

Estimated Price Range for Used Chrysler Newport: $5,000-$18,000
